Eden

Eden is a planet from the Genesis System and is the homeworld of aeons, scalebacks, and most kobolds. Though once a natural paradise, the Twilight War reduced it to a lifeless rock. Most information on life prior to the Twilight War comes by word of mouth as Eden did not have written forms of communication until the proto-humans introduced it to the planet.

Geography

Compared to worlds even as mythical as Zodia, Eden defied all reason. It was a colorful planet warped by the collective strength of the kobolds into a paradise that would never bring its inhabitants struggle. Food was plentiful and nourishing; winds were gentle; rains were pleasant and revitalizing— if there was ever such a thing as a perfect world, Eden strove to be just that.
Eden is a planet only externally; in actuality, it and its solar system share many traits with alternative planes of existence such as Earth’s Netherworld or Nowhere in that its true size is indeterminable. Though Eden appeared to have a definitive size from a distance, it would stretch along endlessly in all directions if one ever walked it. One could reach any destination simply by imagining themselves walking there.

Seven Thrones

Zenith’s unique appearance and plane-like characteristics were the result of the Seven World Forgers. These Forgers were believed to be the first true dragons, and all aeons and kobolds descend from them. The “Seven Thrones,” also known as the Seven Realms or seven sub-planes, were the domains of the Forgers, where they guided the young aeons and kobolds on their journeys to draconic ascension. These Seven Thrones wrapped around an impossibly tall mountain known as Zezsyk or the Point of Ascension. The Seven Thrones listed below are named after their Forger's Zenial (native) names:
  • Daergnal
  • Thorramuk
  • Soleavum
  • Ekliosaren
  • Aarvael
  • Selenith
  • Magnilene
The Point of Ascension housed the Cosmic Spine, which was an ancient tree, and the Fount of Genesis, its lake. These were both integral to the formation and growth of new aeons and kobolds. The Spine was considered an insignificant piece of Zenith’s power, though even a fragment as small as the Spine was capable of bringing life to the planet. The Fount’s waters had healing properties and were capable of extending a mortal creature’s lifespan when imbibed. The Cosmic Spine also served as Eden’s one and only church prior to the proto-humans’ arrival.

History

Most of Eden's history is unknown. The Twilight War erased the proto-humans’ written works, and there were few books written by aeons or kobolds. At some point between the Forgers’ creation of Eden and the founding of Luminism and Voidism, the Forgers vanished without a trace and took the method to Ascension with them.
Most of the information below is taken from Dr. Jynx's interviewing of Seer Angio, who is the oldest known living Aeon.

The First Dawn

The eldest survivors of Eden tell of a forgotten and lonely planet, where winds choked the skies with the dust of its barren earth. When light brushed its surface, fire (some accounts say it was Zenith’s palm) struck the earth and dented it. When the flames settled, a seed remained. The seed and the imprint left by the flames became the Cosmic Spine and Fount of Genesis respectively.
Each of the Seven Forgers staked their claim on the passage of time. Daergnal, the youngest of the Forgers, took a portion of Zenith’s light and shined it from the heavens. He declared that all things that fell under this light would move and dance as he did. But the creatures beneath it eventually grew too tired from playing all day, so Aarvael offered them rest. Aarvael and her elder sisters, Selenith and Magnilene, pulled a curtain over the light and plunged Eden into darkness.
To prevent his brothers and sisters from fighting, Ekliosaren suggested a cycle of rise and rest. Thorramuk and Soleavum would join Daergnal in watching over the kobolds and aeons whilst the light shined, and Ekliosaren’s sisters would watch when it was gone. It was not until proto-humans colonized Eden that Edenians called these hours “day” and “night.”

Present-Day

Due to the Twilight War, the aeons, kobolds, and scalebacks scattered across the cosmos and mingled with different cultures. Because of this, the closest surviving individuals (or descendants) of the Twilight War's participants represent Eden rather than the planet they lived on prior to being registered in the NWS-Atlas' database. These are: Seer Salix, protege of Seer Alba; Celeste, a kobold veteran; and Rudolph Dexter, descendant of Geralt Dexter.

Edenian Names

Originally, aeons and kobolds did not have individual names. Before they ascended, aeons and kobolds were identified collectively, and that collective name became the name of their draconic form.
When the proto-humans colonized Northern Eden, they introduced their naming conventions to the native Edenians. Most Edenians were then known by two names, Zenial (native) and Homonal (human), with Zenith being the only exception. Scholars find Zenith's name perplexing, as it's an English loanword that was present prior to the proto-humans' colonization.
Though this planet is known as “Eden,” it was referred to as zkach or “home” by the aeons and kobolds that lived there. Eden was given its name by Magus-King Bertrand de Eden, whose name comes from the Book of Genesis of the Bible. He felt the name fitting due to the planet’s similarities to the biblical paradise.
Do not fret, Star-Child. I will return as soon as I am able to find my siblings.
