Light of Rainbows Cave

Purpose / Function

The cave is filled with many different types of quartz crystals, even the roof in areas in solid crystal, allowing natural light to fill into the caves. The light filtering in through a crystal causes rainbows to appear all over the cave walls, light filtering through the many smaller crystals of all colors also creates colored light. The cave is a popular tourist destination for its beauty, and a mining facility to mine for the crystals. The crystals grow exceptionally fast, only taking 3 months to grow full sized. These crystals are not only used for their beauty, they are also used as a food condiment when crushed, or used for potion making.

Sensory & Appearance

The cavern creates a marvel of light from the many crystals producing rainbows within the cave. The cave itself is quite, apart from the mining deeper inside the cavern, but it is very bright for cave standards thanks to the clear crystals on some parts of the ceiling.

Denizens

Crystaline bats can be found living amongst the crystals, feeding on Coloredrump beetles that glow in the rainbow light.

Valuables

Most of the treasure that can be found here consist of the crystals themselves. Larger and deeper colored crystals are considered more value than the clearer and smaller ones.

Hazards & Traps

Most of the hazards found here consist of sharp crystal or rocks, cave-ins, and falling into the stream that runs through the cavern. Bridges are built over the stream to prevent this, but the dangers of sharp objects and cave-ins have not been properly dealt with.

Special Properties

Clear crystal ceilings.

Alterations

Some additions have been made to make it more accessible for Raptors visiting or mining in it. There are torches throughout the caverns in the less lit areas, mining tools can be seen strewn about in areas that are reserved for mining operations, which are kept separate from the areas intended for visitors.

History

The cavern was considered one of the most beautiful natural locations upon its discovery many centuries ago. Almost as soon as news of its discovery spread from town to town, people started to come from all over to gaze upon its natural beauty, minors also came hoping to make a profit off of the crystals inside. A town now lies just outside the cavern, consisting almost entirely of tourist oriented buildings, hotels, restaurants, stores of all kinds selling crystal goods.
