med badge
In 2020, Licentia began issuing medical alert bracelets to all members, starting with medical information submitted in the second half of 2019. As of March 2020, essentially everyone in Licentia was issued a bracelet of some kind. The manufacturing of bracelets has since scaled down for replacements, updates, and new members.
Most children are not issued a bracelet until age 15 to ensure it fits. Parents that have kids with severe medical issues can apply for their kids to get a smaller one.
As you can imagine, many people have customized their bracelets, and many more simply don't wear them. A small economy has developed around handmade medical bracelets and necklaces. The official recommendation is "please use the one we gave you unless it's out of date" for the sake of consistency, but that hasn't stopped the more creative minded. In addition, as some people never submit their medical information in the first place, Licentia simply gives them a color-coded rubber band, where red = cachaemite, blue = zeitgabber, yellow = non-infected, and uncolored (ie brown) = lycan. People with more than one virus are simply given additional rubber bands. The rubber band option is popular among those who believe Licentia's bureaucracy has become too expansive.
Because "medical alert bracelet" is a bit of a mouthful and because some people go against guidelines and wear a necklace instead, they have picked up the name med badge. This article will be focused on the standard-issue med badge, but even custom ones tend to follow its basic format.
The standard-issue badge has a clear front and a back, with the front being slightly convex and the back concave. It is metallic and hypoallergenic.
The front of the badge has up to four lines of information. There is also a square in the corner with blood type for people who submitted blood type information.

The standardized options are noninfected, zeitgabber, cachaemite, lycan, ly-zeit, cach-can, zeit-mite, and trifected. Attempts to categorize strains are ongoing in Licentia, but as most are not relevent in an emergency, it was decided that waiting for strains to be standardized isn't worth delaying the program. The other three lines
These are in the realm of what would be on a normal medical alert bracelet, ie, taking warfarin, asthma, diabetes 2, no codeine, penicillin allergy. Zeitgabberim may have cycler or permazonked added to their bracelets. Medications not relevant to emergencies are not listed; it's pretty much just blood thinners, pacemakers, and insulin. Lines are only included for people for whom they are relevant. For example, the front of Baby Eoin's badge reads: TRIFECTEDV-FIB, MARFAN SYNDRM
NO NSAIDS
ICD+PACEMAKER

Back
The back gives the person's preferred name (in Licentia, preferred names have a precise definition — for most people it's their legal given name, but it can be an "official" nickname), organ donor status, and, if the person opts in, up to two emergency contact numbers.Manufacturing
Although the original proposal was for them to be made from scrap metal, it was decided that they needed instead to be hypoallergenic. It is currently made with a hypoallergenic stainless steel alloy. Niobium was proposed but thought to be too expensive.
Licentia purchases the steel in bulk, but owns the actual manufacturing process. They are made in by a factory owned by Licentia's Metallurgists Union in Texas.
