Chancel Deep

The Chancel Deep is the headquarters of The Flood, and their most sacred sanctum. The Chancel stands guard over the secrets of the order. It was constructed around [x year], following the exodus of the Flood's adherents from Eostre City in response to the arrest of Deacon Riven. As the first and oldest building in Aldri, it has been expanded and modified many times over the years. Creating a colossal, mazelike interior and a brutal, imperious facade.     The mysteries of the Chancel Deep are rarely shared, which has created an air of mystery around what takes place there. Visitors are carefully vetted by the Deacon of the Flood, and only on two occasions have visitors other than members of the Flood's inner circle visited. Most information on the complex comes from former Flood believers who left the religion.  

Architecture

The Chancel Deep is a simple building in conception, but time has made it complex. It is unadorned and fairly plain, following the Flood's key principles of wasting no effort on the physical world. Only what is essential to achieve the end. Constructed primarily of steel and concrete, the Chancel rises up from the icy plains of Libertas.   Due to its unusual surface construction, when most Libertan cities dwell far below the ice plains, the structure suffers significant radiation damage and concrete cancer. Its facade has been repaired many times, creating a splotchy patchwork of new old and materials. In full, the Chancel rises an estimated fifteen levels from the ice. The layout of the interior is not publicly released, though speculations are common. It is generally believed that the Deacon is resident in the center most room of the complex. Lower chambers are purposefully flooded and used in ceremonies.
