Witch finger rings

In the deepest forests, and the winding, turning back streets of the cities of Levis - the witches live. All but the wiliest are outcasts but all share a knowledge of the profane and a link to the fey. And on their middle two fingers often sit winding bands of treated thread or dried vine. For this is the way if the witch.   The finger-ring is another in a long line of focii, the tip of the spell gesture - the manifesting of desire to action. Designed with malleability and dexterity in mind, the nail tip is usually a solid layer whilst twisting and curling designs lay down the finger till at least the inner knuckle.
The finger-ring is worn in matching pairs, grown from the magic of the witch and used to focus her most powerful spells. Though she can mirror them on her other hand, it usually sits on the dominant hand, patterns grown from constant spellwork through the magic that infuses the universe.   To make, a witch procures the material they wish to form the ring from, performing a purifying chant to the well of possibility; before binding the material to the spellcasting fingers. As the witch casts, the material grows and warps, infused with magic and potential.
Not all who wear the rings are witches though. With the age of the realm, and with the nature of witches, some finger rings have made it into the general population. Added to this the twisting nature of popularity and fads and temporary immitations have also gained their own existance. Still, there is always the call of witch magic to draw the mind to the edges of society and what one deems proper.

I really love the concept of the rings growing and warping with magic—it’s a vivid and unique detail! It might be even more engaging if you included a few examples of how different witches’ rings might look or behave differently, showing personality or magical style through them.   Also, the note about the rings spreading into broader society is really interesting. It would be great to see a bit more about what kinds of people wear them outside of witch circles, and how non-magical folks perceive them. That could really deepen the cultural context and make the tradition feel more alive in the world

The former will be discussed with my fashion artist. The latter will be poked upon once I get enough bones down to add history/time to my fashion. Who knew Id get deep enough into Levis fashoon for fashion blogging.

This is a really great idea. I love how they have seeped into wider society.
