The possessed

  Records of the possessed are murky at best, with only the two well known modern cases and a handful of suspicious moments throughout time to pass research through. With the portals now open between Infernus and Levis open, the theorised method of creation becomes even less likely or repeatable and so supposition turns to myth turns to legend.   What is known is that the possessed is a classification of what happens when a demon and a Levis-born try to occupy the same mind, the same body. Whether willing and symbiotic or parasitic until the host mind is destroyed, the demon has been dragged from its realm and is forced to survive. All the following information is unreliable at best.   Shapeshifting between a Levis form and a demon form is possible - though whether the demon form is natural to Infernus has not been adequately communicated between Academy researchers and demon interviewees. There are unreliable accounts as to the transfer of information between host and demon, though the leading idea is that information is universally shared.   Theories of the many realms suppose that possession is a form of 'leak' from Infernus, and that demons being resistant to the drag of the well of possibility are spat out to Levis in the space of someone Levis-born. This would explain why demons have not been recorded in the wild in the Quiet Years, not even in myth and legend as humans were. What is known is that the process leaves host and demon fused and unable to part - there is no exorcism, no parting; hunters and witches have tries on the Lady in White, but all have managed to either become her victim or flee the scene scarred and scared.
