Squarks

If some survive in Infernus by being fast, others by being tough, and yet more by being hot or smart - the squarks survive as a species by being prolific. If their bones were not used for other means, the Squark would litter the stone of Infernus with a pile of their corpses. They are the prey to both the predators of the realm, and victims to its skies.   No more the size of three inches, these small flying lizards have a tough stone beak, and serated tongue, for scratching and pecking at the stonework of Infernus to get at the bugs hiding in the gaps. Their wings are small and their bodies light, and they fly in swarms up to several hundreds, roosting in whatever spaces they can between aerial displays. Their colouration spans between a dark brown and a spotted grey-black.   A Squark's keening cry can often reach 90dB, with the sound often heard just before the roosting swarm goes to sleep. Their feces are highly corrosive, though basic in PH, and bond and dissolve the silica in rocks with ease.   They build their nest out of iron shavings, often digging them from piles around their droppings, though as the demons expanded - from the offcuts of the demon's work in their mines. They have clutches of eggs every 6 months with adult squarks feeding any young that they can see - often at the detriment of their own health.
