Smoke masks

When hands clasp this device to skin, only fire can remove it. Smoke masks are a device that links both the demons of Infernus and the the worshippers of Infertanis of fire and rebirth. Created in the lull between first and second strifes between Infernus and Levis, the masks were an adaptation of an old iron-wind mask. At this point the mask was a steel covering with thin vertical slits that protected the nose and mouth of demons when they tried to brave the inhospitable gaps between safe havens in the land of iron and fire.   The creative of Levis used and adapted the mask during a nasty bushfire around the eastern Forbidden forest, adding a plant membrane built to filter the particulates from the air. When raiders found one such prototype years later, they added the soaked cloth hood that marks the mask for modern users - made to cool and protect the face from ash, even for those with heat resistance.   Those from the fire god have taken this joint innovation and stained the combination of wet hood, and iron mask and stained it the bright orange of their religion, wearing these during some of their more elaborate fire twirling rituals.
