Sky-Walker
As the Celestial winds spiral and move across the mathematical planes of Levis from the well of possibility and the depths of space, magic and gravity swirling ever moving waves of magic and wonder across Levis, great pools of potent possibility rest upon the crust of the planet - attracting impressive but temporary works of supreme magic for those who are willing to hunt them out.
While mages have borrowed the old ways to increase their range and their fame, gathering at these pools to perform great feats and initiate wondrous inventions, the old ways were the roving hearts of the Trolls. While bound to the paths of the Horned Bison, the trolls of the old ways would scout from the path using Sky-Walkers to seek out places of 'spiritual marvel' to inscribe their own magic circuits, stylised in stories linked to the travelling tribes own Mythos - though none could call arranging their magic in the style of circular pictographic stories any less skilled than using the circuit images that the mages stick to. While the mages seek to perform acts unseen and requiring great powers, the transient tribes often sought to restock and resupply seeds and stocks lost in the dry heat or the sudden floods. And the sky walkers enabled them to do that.
A sky walker is a small bug, gorged on magic, and kept in a dried seed pod, sealed with silk strands. There is something in the pact of all three things - bug, pod and silk, that make them especially attuned to the celestial winds, catching root of one of their paths and following it down towards a pool. One who possesses the walker is directed by which direction the podn vibrates in, marking a pool with a random buzz in every direction. If a walker is left too long in a pool of celestial wind, the walker gnaws through the silk, emerging as a magical 8 winged dragonfly. All attempts to classify the bug have been illusive as it seems to disappear after a few moments.
