Shimmergrass

What does a dry brush grass need so much water? I don't know but I think I saw it sparkle.

One of the most prolific grasses of the plains around the Hundred Teeth and growing northward into Solaris, the Shimmergrass is a wonder of alchemy. The soils around the shimmergrass are rich in calcium, and by absorbing magic from the air the shimmergrass slowly turns the top layers of the ground into a nitrate rich biolayer. This consumption requires a lot of water, when the shimmergrass perform its magic, its grey and thin leaves shimmer with opalescence.   When it dies, usually due to the drying of the plains, it releases its magic back into the ground, often causing blossoms of wild fey-like chaos. The Shimmergrass grows ever out due to this nature of boom and bust, and it leaves behind soil ready for other grasses and wonders of Levis.
