Levis Fashion- pt 5 Dark Romantic
This subculture is about celebrating the maccabre and the romance of the dark and deep spaces of the world.
This fashion style is older than either of the obvious inspirations that might have stemmed them - the Binding Circlets and romantic bards. And while Aranthme might have whispered in the ear of the first Dark Romantic, spiders do not feature as much into this style as one might expect.
To put this subculture into focus, one must bring forth the ideal of the Bone Turner, of the Botanical Necromancy, dried leaves and Crimson Mist. It is finding the beauty in death and love in the edge of life. It revels in the weird, taking an unapologetically intellectual bent to exploring the weird and wild parts of the world in joyous acceptance.
Visually that starts with a usually red based palette, with the veils and stiff lines of mourning clothes at a foundation. Big hair is often a choice made, and makeup chosen to emphasise and enhance visuals to the extreme.
Grove-mantasy.
This grouping is high on adding burls and black to the shapes and forms of the culture. Including a lot of elbow length gloves and long extended lines to the shapes of the jackets/tops/vests of the outfits, this grouping enjoys opacity and stylised hemlines.Court-voch
Popped collars are the rage with this style, along with Goldweave lace and extended and emphasised shoulders.Amphitheatre Dark
Shown by corsets under Greshire, with lots of hooped earings and large shapes, this style is designed to be seen at distance. Makeup is overexaggerated, and stitching is chosen to contrast the material it is on.It is not the Dark Romantics that classify their styles, one can often see a blend of styles within the clusters of like minded individuals that congregate. Instead it is fashion historian and those who track style who have put names upon the dark romance subculture.
