Lathnin

Witches/witchcraft. often find solutions to problems that many come up shirt with. When the twinform communities started to be hunted and culled by the Hunter Combat Mages under direction of the larger communities, there was a meeting of the witches and a solution was decided upon.   The Lathnin is a type of talisman, built around an idea made magic. The spell is woven into a focus, usually an animal skull, blessed with dried herbs and scented with a calming oil chosen for the patient.
The idea is a black hole for emotion, not destroying it but pulling it towards the centre and compessing it so hard it might as well not exist.   While the true origin of Twinforms is unknown, the Lathnin works on the assumption that its source is Izdione, Mother of Monsters and that the 'curse' is simply bringing out latent monster blood within the cursed. The black idea is a gesture latching itself to the proposed monster blood and reinforced by smell and touch and sight in an effort to take the cursed from the longing if the forest and the heightened emotions there and dulling it with community and the familiar.   While many of the small marsupials around Levis can be used as a vessel, there is a discussion to be made to link the chosen focus to the bloodline of the twinform, many of the witches having notes on the twinform communities that have lived in and around their centres of power.   Witches often partner the charm with practical solutions, diet and exercise, hobbies and connections; for while the twinform uncontrolled poses some danger, the twinform exposed risks hunters and they usually pose a problem to the entire ecosystem of a witch's world.
