If modern earth society has crazy cat ladies, this is the Levis equivilent.

Un-spoused older gentlemen who have become so entrenched in being alone and not seeing people and reality for what it is. Usually trading for a tame bird of prey - something completely unsuitable for settlement life, they begin to hoarde all they own, finding some sort of hyperfixation at the expense of self care and social care.

Hawk Bachelors will tend to overcare for their birds as well, procuring sustinance for them without mind for how they appear to the outside world. As they descend into the role more and more, they will do things like not clean up their domesticile, leaving rodent carcasses and bird scat everywhere, and letting their gardens falter, perhaps even trading them away so that someone is forced to feed them.

Hawk Bachelors often find roles in the community that get them as far away from people as possible, especially those of the kind they may have in another life been attracted to.

Society views the bachelors with a mix of pity and derision, not understanding what kind of loneliness takes a person from alone to this extreme of a bachelor.

Recent attempts at addressing the mental health care needed to support these folk have begun, but mental health as a whole is a subject still in development.
