Ferrite Hooves

The Iron Demons of Infernus take iron into their blood through the air, through the soil, through existence. In Infernus the Ferrite hoof is a fashion statement, proof that your metabolism of the airbourne iron or that your hard work at the forges or at the cliff face gave you enough iron to live healthy. So when the demons came to Levis there was already a cultural spine for the ferrite hoof.   It was in Levis that they came across a strange anaemia. The lack of airbourne iron left many demons lacking in the growing stages of their lives and leaving some of their adult growths stunted and brittle. And thus some of the demons were required to tap down on their geomancy - the demonic runes that made their lives easier back in Infernus and bring forth iron from the deep ground and fashion ferrite hooves for themselves.   Not all demons required the hooves, but for those that did, the metallic hooves were a blessing - wearing through slowly as they aged, to be repaired or replaced when they grew thin in spots. While some demons would shine theirs too a mirror finish, others let the natural red iron-oxide layer form on the outside letting it mix with the Levis mud and sand to create a brown-red 'hoof'. Most hooves are styled simply in this way, with most demons walking upon the balls of their feet anyways, or having nonhuman feet and legs.

Retired Raid-Leader Tynen

Also known as the Scourge of the Starfall, Tynen is a farrier in Infernus, after having made his way back through the portals from Levis after a long campaign as a raider from Xylos' first group. With bones aching from the cold, and many believing he would perish on this third travel through the Well of Possibility; Tynen set out, eventually making it back to the pass with stories of cannons and kingdoms and empires never seen.   He retired as a farrier of Ferrite hooves both for those of status back within the pass and for those willing to risk their own journey through the well. Often cantankerous, Tynen has a soft spot for those willing to try their best - and is an avid fan of the local sports when they are played.

Love this. It's a shame that it is required because of the lack of iron in the air. Poor demons.
