Debron-Torrin Spike

Named after the person who calculated its cyclical nature the spike is a solar flare that pulses out of the smaller sun, Debron, pushing magic and solar radiation through the solar system. This plume of magic and radiation waste is highly disruptive but stunningly beautiful.  

Pre human.

Records say that prior to humans coming through the portals, the spikes would cause a light aurora across the areas south of the The hundred teeth. It was said that the glowing plants and animals would stop glowing for around a week, and that certain red stones would rise and float to meet the sky. During these times the three hundred year pulses were linked to the unnamed god with ceremony and ritual attached to the process but lost to time.  

The human times

During the human times not much is recorded of the spikes, not that they did not occur, just that the great minds of Levis were distracted by the expansion of the known universe to include through the portals into the unknown realms. With not much knowledge passing through to modern day from that time, the greater effects of the Debron Spikes are lost to time.   One can suspect that with the ubiquitous use of metal weapons and armour, that the extreme magnetic effects that were shown through some of the larger Debron-Torrin spikes might have had an effect on the human settlements within that time, but again, with no written record, all that is left is supposition and academy experimentation.  

The quiet years

The years following the disappearance of the humans, was a period of relative quiet, and a period of great growth and exploration within the realm and local space. It is within this time that the great Celestial Mathematician Torrin the Wise was born. Not only was Torrin able to provide the basis of the Thoth Verti but he predicted the cyclical nature of the Debron Spikes, mapping them down to a 15 year interval. With the fundamental celestial mathematics he provided, and the research into the effects his studies encouraged, the next spike was ready for interaction. Which is why it was a shame that this was the largest spike in recorded history.
 

The Spike of 1817

For the Spike of 1817, an aurora, some floating rocks, and the lack of bioluminescence was the least of the problems. Many of the settlements around Levis had yet to switch from the light circuits that were a mainstay of Levis and those that had switched to bio-vines could deal with a week of early nights.   The first interruption to note, was the shut-down of the Br1n network. Gardeners, and most of the lower city went into overdrive within Natare, scrambling to set up work arounds for most of the systems the upper city expected to have. Many of these fail-safes are in place to this day and helped greatly during the Xylos invasion.   The next thing to note was the permanent glow around many of the bio-vines that connected to the solar cells around Levis, the heat formed by said glow gradually killing the transport worms within the vines and detaching circuit from connected cell. Many gardeners were forced to don thick heatproof gloves in the handling, and many small fires broke out around the cities when those in power refused to disconnect many of the thicker connections.   While celestial mathematicians and astronomers were flocking to the Saburra telescope to take measurements, things like the Saburra-Natare train were taken out of commission and the creature scrubbed clean of circuit diagrams incase the heat killed the magnificent beast.
