Bugs of Infernus
Much like Levis, Infernus has its own complex ecosystem built for the wheres and whats of its realm. With the thick iron winds and the thicker opaque atmosphere, Infernus lacks a true day/night cycle - and the insects of Infernus have evolved with that in mind.
Xytchie
What is worse than one mosquito? Swarms of them. The Xytchie is an aerial insect that drinks blood through three needle-like mouthpieces. It produces a saliva that hinders healing (and often reacts with the host's immune system to produce swollen areas around the bite where the veins are pushed closer to the surface). The egg producing gender of the species produces a high pitched whine that alerts its friends of prey as it feeds, drawing in more Xytchie to feed fromm as close to the same point as possible. A swarm of these 4mm long insects can have about 3 egg layers for every 20 scouts, who are on the constant leave and return journey, looking for moisture for which to guide the swarm to let the egg layers deposit their eggs. Xytchie eggs repopulate asexually in the presence of moisture, with a larval almost tadpole middle stage. These larvae also feed on blood, often from inside the stomach should they accidently be consumed. The Xychtie is such a well known issue that Infernus has a quarantine on open liquids and that many demons in the other realms do not trust staid water.Mhesigs
Mhesigs are white-metallic little things that bathe in the magma geysers that sport around the warmer areas of Infernus. With a length of about two centimetres, these creatures feed on iron oxide and the pitted and chipped rust deposits both living and mineral found. Their palladium shells have a large, conical abdomen with up to 8 segments, a small thorax and a massive head with a many segmented eye. Their antennae are short enough to be practically invisible and their mandibles resemble an industrial drilling machine. They have strong muscled forearms with weaker but heavy armored mid and hind legs. They are edible, though their high metallic component does limit their consumption to those with a taste or digestion for that kind of thing.Terrorpedes
In a land of heightened experiences, and heightened emotions, what if a bug could fear. Measuring up to 30cm, these many legged creatures resemble centipedes and millipedes, with a long sharp, always exposed spike on the tip of its tail for defense and a naturally burrowing behaviour. What is unique is a brain built to experience desire and longing and fear. These are all rudimentary and the terrorpedes do not experience true self awareness, but they fill the air with the rich tapestry of emotions that help give a slight feeding to the Lust Demons of Infernus. They themselves feed on dead insect matter, with three stomachs that work to digest the complete exoskeleton to gooey flesh of the decaying bugs.Khekroh
With a long bisected body and 16 small eyes providing compound vision, this bug is a decomposer; scavenging and swarming the carcasses of Infernus. Its young are bred into deeper tissue of the carcass spawning from their eggs not as larvae but as filully formed Khekroh, making the dead of Levis into squirming and writhing masses a few hours after death. Resistant to most Infernus bound poisons and diseases, the Khekroh is completely disinterested in live flesh, requiring the special sauce of death. As such Khekroh larvae are harvested and for medicinal purposes in cases of necrotic or dead tissue in living demons.Death heads
These little beetles sport fake eye marking on their wing casings, which they flare and rattle when stunned or threatened. The sound thry make sounds like a metal rattle, and pushes the poison in their stomach pouch to coat all over the flared horn between their eyes.Netted spider
The demons of Infernus are direct, but not all the creatures of the land are. The soft bodied Netted Spider has strong forearms both for digging its tunnels and for the throwing of the strong silk nets it produces to catch its prey. Able to toss up to 1m away, the nets edges are rubbed in dirt to produce counterweight.Interrealm portals and rifts in space and time into the well repulse many types of animals, insects and arachnids most of all. The whole thing feels in the air to them like a recerse bug zapper and the areas around places of longterm portal use seem devoid of those miniture lifeforms.
Thank you for reading, feel free to give feedback.

I hate mosquitoes, and I live in a land filled with them—these Xytchie sound terrifying! Do they have particularly horrible bites? And do they carry any infectious diseases? I’m really intrigued (and a little horrified) by how you described their behavior and lifecycle.
Yes and yes though the diseases are their own article laterer
