The Goblins

The Goblins: Ingenious Outcasts

The Goblins are a heritage defined by their unparalleled ingenuity and adaptability, tempered by a history of loss and displacement. Small and nimble, they are natural inventors and opportunists, known for their boundless creativity and resourcefulness. Once a vital part of the Casparian Alliance, their people flourished in a golden age of innovation and progress. However, the destruction of their homeland during the rise of the Blightland left them scattered and fragmented, struggling to find their place in a world that often views them with suspicion.

Before the Blight: A Golden Age of Innovation

In the days of the Casparian Alliance, Goblins stood at the forefront of technological and magical innovation. Their creativity fueled the Alliance's rise as a beacon of progress and cooperation. Goblins worked alongside their Human allies, building cities of intricate beauty and crafting wonders that bridged the gap between science and magic. From airships to automatons, their creations were marvels of ingenuity, and the Goblins themselves thrived in vibrant, bustling communities.   The invention of the Clank, sentient mechanical beings, was a crowning achievement of Goblin ingenuity. These constructs symbolized the limitless potential of the Alliance, cementing the Goblins’ reputation as pioneers of progress. Their contributions made them indispensable, and their cities became hubs of learning and experimentation.

After the Blight: Scattered Survivors

The fall of the Casparian Alliance and the transformation of their homeland into the Blightland was catastrophic. The Dark Lord’s rise shattered their society, turning their lands into a desolate wasteland of corruption and decay. The secrets of their greatest inventions, including the process of creating Clank, were lost in the chaos.   With their homeland destroyed, Goblins scattered across Levelia, becoming a heritage of wanderers and outcasts. While some sought refuge in Melchiora or other established lands, many found themselves unwelcome, forced to carve out lives on society’s fringes. Their reputation as cunning opportunists, combined with the stigma of their association with the fallen Alliance, led to widespread mistrust.

A Life of Outcasts

Today, Goblins can be found in every corner of Levelia, often eking out a living as inventors, scavengers, or traders. In the Savage Isles, many have embraced a life of piracy and lawlessness, joining bands of outlaws where their quick minds and daring plans make them invaluable. These Goblins thrive in the Isles’ cutthroat environment, crafting ingenious weaponry and leading daring raids.   Elsewhere, Goblins have formed small enclaves, hidden workshops, or nomadic bands. They remain fiercely independent, their creativity undiminished by their hardships. Some Goblins still dream of reclaiming the lost knowledge of the Alliance, venturing into the Blightland to search for remnants of their past.
