The Cataclysm

The origins of the Cataclysm remain shrouded in mystery, with scholars debating whether it was triggered by unchecked magical experiments, divine conflict among The Chosen, or a culmination of both. What is certain is that the Cataclysm was swift and merciless. The skies darkened as storms of arcane energy tore across the lands, mountains erupted, and the seas churned with fury. Entire regions were consumed by fire, flood, or frost as natural and magical forces collided.

One of the most devastating effects of the Cataclysm was the Spellscourge, a century-long affliction that silenced magic across Levelia. Wizards and sorcerers found their powers nullified, while magical artifacts and wards failed, leaving civilizations defenseless against the chaos. The once-thriving cities of the Deepforged Halls crumbled beneath the earth, the verdant lands of Alistalia froze over, and Archelon, the kingdom of arcane brilliance, fell into despair.

The physical consequences were equally dire. A massive section of Anzentochi fractured and drifted into the Endless Ocean, becoming the land now known as Doragon no Kuni. The Great Drought spread across the eastern expanse, transforming fertile lands into arid deserts. The bands of cold and heat shifted unpredictably, forcing mass migrations of people and creatures. The elves and fae fled Alistalia, and the sons of Queen Morgana Archelaus began their perilous journeys across the desert to found new human kingdoms.

In this time of strife, the ancient balance between the realms was irreparably broken. Morgana, desperate to save her kingdom, made a pact with infernal entities, transforming Archelon into a haven for demons. Similarly, young Octavia, separated from her mother and her people, used the Ancient Tongue to forge a dangerous pact with the dragons, reshaping her displaced kingdom into Doragon no Kuni.

The Cataclysm’s impact reverberates through Levelia to this day. It created new alliances, sowed seeds of bitter enmity, and gave rise to enduring myths and legends. Though a semblance of order has returned to the world, the scars of the Cataclysm serve as a grim reminder of the perilous balance between ambition and consequence.
