Ashara
Ashara: The Spirit of the Wilds
Ashara is a legendary figure revered in the Southern Wilds as the protector and embodiment of nature's untamed spirit. According to myth, Ashara was once a mortal—an ancient shaman or druid who forged a deep connection with the jungle, understanding its secrets and wielding its power to shield her people from invaders.
When her life neared its end, the jungle itself is said to have absorbed her spirit, granting her immortality as a guardian of the land. The central jungle, now called Ashara’s Cradle, is believed to be the heart of her influence, a living sanctuary where her essence thrives.
Many inhabitants of the Southern Wilds honor Ashara with rituals, offerings, and stories passed down through generations. Some believe that venturing too deeply into the Cradle without respect for its sanctity will awaken Ashara’s wrath in the form of the jungle itself—a storm, a shifting canopy, or the silent predation of its wildlife.
