While our brothers and sisters roamed the forests, we were the first to rise from the ashes. They hunted and foraged while we ploughed the earth and established new settlements. Only we are fit to unite our people and reforge our long lost united state!

Elléval was ruled by an elected elder who served for life. Upon their death, the oathkeepers elect a new elder from their ranks. The oldest child of the previous elder then joined the oathkeepers. Every major decision, such as a declaration of war or the changing of the law, had to be accepted by the majority of the oathkeepers, but the elder was the only one who could officially initiate the voting procedure. If an Elder was deemed incompetent by the overwhelming majority of the oathkeepers, then they could be removed from power.Oathkeepers
Oathkeepers were the heads of the most influential and powerful families in Elléval. There were typically eleven of them, but occasionally when powerful families lost their prominence and when new ones rose, the elder and the other oathkeepers had the right to revoke the title from one family and give it to a new one. They served as a counterweight to the power of the elder, ensuring that they never did anything against the oathkeepers' and their country's best interests and keeping them from being a tyrannical ruler.
