Court Chronicler of Enliten

Privileged Propagandists

Ah, to be a chronicler at court is to be a man of immense creativity and commitment. Reality can be awfully dull or complicated at times, and who’s got the time and energy to read through uninspired notes on random historical events? The people crave excitement!
— Alrúk of Íls, Court Chronicler of Enliten
Court Chronicler is a title in the Kingdom of Enliten bestowed upon individuals with an undying passion for writing and history. They work tirelessly to record the trials and tribulations of the past so that future generations can learn about the glorious deeds of the House of Herwik and its loyal subjects, even if some of the details surrounding certain recorded events might seem a bit out there. The position is highly coveted by those with the skills necessary to compose such lofty tomes as the benefits that come with the rank can guarantee a comfortable lifestyle, exclusive privileges, and close access to the royal family.   Chosen by the monarch and the Council of Helí, the Court Chronicler of Enliten must serve for life, or at least until they're capable of writing intelligibly. Should their hands suffer from injury or a condition such as arthritis, then the chronicler is entitled to a lofty pension and retirement either at court, at their own home or at a private estate owned by the crown. There is usually only one Court Chronicler at a time, although nothing forbids the government from giving the title to several people. Alrúk of Íls, the son of a fur merchant from the Unincorporated Territories, has had the honour of serving as the sole Court Chronicler for nearly six years, following the untimely death of his anonymous predecessor, the first man to hold the title.
