The Host numbers about eight thousand men and women in total, of which about seven thousand are fighting men and women while the remaining thousand are those expected to work the necessary support roles that any army needs.
Equipment
Thanks to the skill of Thoridan craftsmen, The Host is as well armed and armoured as soldiers from far larger, wealthier kingdoms and empires. Soldiers are provided with armour and weapons suited to their combat roles, but they are also issued with arms and armour specifically for use when patrolling the city as watchmen since this is a duty that all members of the Host are expected to perform at some time. This generic equipment consists of light boiled leather chestplates and vambraces and a steel skullcap helmet.
History
Historical loyalties
As the citizen-soldiers of Thorida, the Host are loyal to the city and its people. In the three hundred year history of the city-state, many have thought to try to buy the loyalty of the Host as a precursor to taking control of the city but not once have the army succumbed to this temptation.
