Shadowcrawlers
The Shadowcrawlers are the city guard of Artessos, an organisation that existed in the city even before Stylianos Kosmiadis arrived to make the city the capital of his new nation of Kratiros. While the newly-crowned Protos Archontas preferred his own veteran soldiers to form his imperial bodyguard and army, he saw the value in maintaining the existence of the Shadowcrawlers as a way of gaining the support of his new people. Therefore the Shadowcrawlers became the official watchmen of the city; their formal incorporation as a guild of the city taking place even before Kosmiadis' crowning. Their internal governance and culture were also left largely unchanged, except for making them subordinate to the city's Lawmaster.
Structure
The top rank amongst the Shadowcrawlers is that of Warden. The Warden answers directly to Artessos' Lawmaster and is the commander of the entire organisation.

Public Agenda
The Shadowcrawlers are the peacekeepers of Artessos. While not officially charged with the defence of the city, they are nevertheless known as the protectors of the people that reside within its walls.
Assets
The Shadowcrawlers consist of about a thousand men in total. Many of these are simple guardsmen, tasked with securing important locations throughout the city such as the granaries.
