Nirinian Calendar

The Nirinian Calendar is of uncertain origins, but it appears to have been the established calendar for the entire world before the Mage Wars. No sources from that era are known to reference another calendar, although this is not especially reliable given the significant destruction wrought by the Mage Wars themselves and the corresponding lack of records for the ages prior. What is clear is that the Nirinian Calendar was formulated based on the cycles of the moon as well as the seasons caused by the sun. The Nirinian week was 14 days long, the time required for Irkalla to cycle from new moon to full and back again. Nirinian months were governed by the cycles of Diyu, lasting the 38 days required for that moon to cycle from new to full and back again. Whether there was any official place or accounting in the calendar for the extremely long cycles of Mictlan is unknown but modern observers have noted that the cycles of Leoram’s third moon are roughly equal to the length of the seasons in temperate portions of the world.
