Divine Symbols & Sigils
Water Waves – As god of the seas, Ngai is often represented by a wave emblem. Depending on the context, this can take the form of a single tidal wave or a series of waves. The tidal wave is generally taken to represent the sea’s destructive power.
Holidays
Ireneia - In coastal locations where the worship of Ngai is prevalent, the day of the first spring calm after the winter storms is often celebrated with a festival in which worshippers give thanks to the sea god for restoring to them the source of their livelihoods.
Personality Characteristics
Virtues & Personality perks
Ngai's prime virtue is curiosity, which he encourages his followers to embody by travelling and exploring the world around them. Stemming from this, his prime sacred profession is that of guide or scout as these people are the forerunners who discover and then return to help others walk the path more surely, whether that is the physical path from one place to another or the metaphorical path of life.
Other virtues that Ngai embodies and promotes are generosity, kindness and hospitality, particularly as they relate to welcoming travellers or supporting explorers, since Ngai knows well the value of the help of a stranger when venturing into an unknown land.
