Green Aician Fever

Green Aician Fever is a disease state caused by ingestion of the toxins found in the Aici River. This can be done through directly drinking from the water or by eating plants or animals found living in and around the Aici. Symptoms include vomiting, fever, vivid hallucinations, and a green tinge to the whites of the eyes and usually last a few days to a week, dependent on the amount of toxins ingested. While the green tinge generally goes away once the affected has filtered the toxins from their system, those that suffer from the disease regularly will gradually retain the green eyes and develop a tinge on their skin as well. Death is a very rare occurence from the disease, usually tied to either dehydration from an exceptionally long bout of the Fever or from dangerous actions taken as a result of the hallucinations.   While most sane individuals would go out of their way to avoid the waters of the Aici for the health hazard it presents, the Followers of Grey Water purposely ingest the toxins from the river as part of their rituals. They believe that the hallucinations associated with Green Aician Fever are messages directly from Tamik, the cosmic caretaker of Leland since The Great Invasion. Due to the commonness of Green Aician Fever among the Followers, members of the religion (especially those of the priesthood and church leadership) can often be identified by the green of their skin and eyes. For this reason, the Followers are often mockingly referred to as the Followers of Green Water.
