Death Cry Dragon
Differenciating itself with Bright Dragons and Wyverns by it's size andintriguing powers, Death Cries are the biggest and most dangerous creature known to mankind.
Basic Information
Anatomy
This dragon is way bigger than the Bright Dragon, showing immense wings made of strong skin and scales. The articulation implant themeselves between the shoulder blades like their cousins, but a second articulation is located on the spine, above the tail. It makes for a stronger and sounder wing, capable of taking much more weight than that of the dragon itself. The species allow itself less muscle because of stonger and thicker scale. The hollowness of the bone is deeper than on the Bright Dragon, but it allows for the fibers of the bones to extend more upon impact, making them more resistant. The tail gets thinners sooner, reducing weight and allowing more mouvement, thus more stability. The scales colors varies between a deep brown or grey at birth and evolves into a rich wood-like color or a deep black with purple tint respectively. The scales have resisted to every trauma that mens could think of when dissecting specimens. Tallest and oldest specimen was arout 10 meters hight and was estimated around a thousand years old.
Genetics and Reproduction
Dragons of both species are of the reptile category, meening they are oviparous. They have a sexual reproduction, meening the eggs are feconded in the mother by coupling, and shekeep the embryo while producing the egg that will contain later on the fetus. When the egg is fully formed, the embryo should have reached fetal stage and the Death Cry female will lay the egg. The gestation (embryo) period is around 4 month long and the incubating (fetus) period is around 8 months, meening a whelp will gestate/incube for a total of a human year. A colder temperature during the incubation will determine female caracteristics for the whelp. Female Death Cry do have an ovarian cycle, but no periods.
Growth Rate & Stages
Noting that a year for a dragon is aroud twelve for a human. The welp is ready to run and eat solid foods about an hour or so after his birth. The wings and tail are still atrophied, and will develop more slowly. A year old dragon will be close to fully developping a tail, but the wings wont carry his weight until puberty, at five years old. The developpement of second sexual caracteristics and the hormonal upsetment forces the Darg (adolecent; not a welp but not yet adult) to become more independent and to lear quickly how to fly. Until the Darg can fly, it will be fed by its mother and later on by other members of a herd. It will then be able to hunt on it's own and, depending on their mentality, may be forced by combat to leave the herd when reaching adult age and size at around 7 years. The equivalent in human years is 84 years old.
Ecology and Habitats
In the Mounts Brennandi of Drekaland, you can find the dragons in caves, deep under the rocks. Their color helps them hide in the dark and their scales offer them the perfect protection against the sharp rocks. It is unknown if the caves are natural or hand-made.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Dragons are living on raw meat only, and hunt daily for small animals that lives hidden in the rocks, moslty human size lizards.
Biological Cycle
Dragons hibernates when the nights get longer and the winter progresses. During autumn, they create a big "bed" in the deepest caves using feathers of condors and flock from different preys. It is shown that the cycle has been pertubated recently...

Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Touching is the least developped sense because of the scales, but the scales on the palm of their feets protects the soft and malluable foot pad underneath that helps them adjust to the texture of the ground underneath. Their tongues and lips are also big sensory organs as the dragons uses them to pick around their food and choose wich to eat. The lips can also be used to locate soreness one one's body, sometimes a congenere, or to scrach and groom between congeneres. Taste we don't have many infos on.
Hearing is the third least developped sense, at it was proved that Death Cries can hear sound up to 24km away from them. They may or may not have acces to echolocation like the Wyverns, but it is not proved.
The second most developped sense is the sight. Able to notice movements up to 10km away, the dragons also have a very develloped range of colors in their sight. They can see colors that are invisible to humans, partticularly towerds the colder end of the spectum, meening ultraviolets. They can detect infrared, but with less precision. They are very sensitive to details, and seem to have a photographic memory. They have very good night-sight.
As a carnivorous predator, their smell is their most developped sense. It is still unknown however, how far does it reach, but it can detect faint smells undetecteble to humans and other dragons.
