CasTheme
CasTheming, named after the Xeno Cultarist who made it very popular, Dr. William Cass, is the popularized name given to Living Theme Parks, or CassParks, where visitors and "culturalists" can partake of living history.
Essentially large scale ongoing Cosplay event, for some it allows immersive cultural studies. One of the largest and longest running CassParks is located near Quicut on Beautiful .
CassParks are useful for studying and observing other cultures in a non-invasive, yet potentially immersive way. People are given extensive knowledge of the cultural scenery they will be adapting themselves to and then they are given a Persona and inserted into the culture.
It's rumored that some people allow themselves to go through what's called Deep Immersion where who they normally are is overlaid with an Augmented Persona. APs are able to assimilate information about the culture far more quickly and deeply. They are regularly pulled out of the CassTheme to insure there stability.
APs make the best "actors" because they have little recollection of life outside of the CassTheme (that life seems like a mildly intrusive dream the best time to "take them out" is while they are sleeping.
Expensive, many students use the several of their classes to assist and actually participate in CasTheming, especially the park at Quicut, according to customers and participants, the best experience available.
Some CasTheme Guidelines
Though they vary from place to place, some general ideas of a CasPark, particularly the one in Quicut, are presented here to give you an idea of what to expect!- Everyone in the CasTheme Zone (CTZ) must remain in character at all time in virtually all places.
- You could be watched at any time. They do that to maintain the “authenticity” of it all.
- Cameras are everywhere.
- Exception: “Designated Safe Havens” such as personal bedroom areas and other “off the show” locations.
- Exceptions to the Exception: “All Out War” - cameras follow the action and if the action is in a “Safe Haven”; and Personal Cameos - CasPlayers can override the Camera Exception rules for a set time period, usually no more than 30 minutes, and then cameras will return to normal
- Weapons cannot be lethal, and are skinned to look the part
- Outward non-period devices are highly discouraged (external or easily noticeable SmartDevices, non-period tools, etc…)
- Some CasParks as Recorded and Rated for Viewer Enjoyment. CasPlayers can get discounts, paid, or even hired as CasTroops if their Observer Ratings are high enough.
