Warriors of Wolfguard Keep

Ang Calmcacil (Male Moon Elf)   Ang is a typical rebellious young moon elf who wants to become someone and be known by everyone. While on Evermeet, Ang fell in and out of bad young groups including some young elves who decorated their bodies with markings (tattoos) and piercings—a rare, but increasingly popular practice amongst some young elves. Disapproving of how he was living his life, Ang’s parents decided to move the family to Waterdeep hoping life in “The City of Splendors” would be better for Ang. Unfortunately the move didn't turn out the way the family expected. Soon after the family arrived in Waterdeep, Ang fell in love with a young human woman named Gilraen. Naturally, his family—who can trace their roots back to elven nobility—disapproved of the union. Rebellious in nature, Ang went against his parents’ wishes not to marry Gilraen. After disowning him, his family left Waterdeep and returned to Evermeet. Realizing he needed a way to make a living in a city like Waterdeep, Ang found a job working as a bouncer alongside a dwarf named Fierson. In time, the two became good friends. Along with his wife Gilraen, a sorcerer, the three eventually plan to get rich by forging a business selling expertly crafted and enchanted weapons and armor.     Balzanar (Male Ghost Hin)   Balzanar is a member of the ghost-hin barbarian tribe, Fain-Tarag (Fain means “White” and Tarag means “Horn” in hin). SwiftRunner, a hin barbarian of some skill, leads his tribe. His tribe’s ancestral mound is located in the foothills of the southern Nether Mountains. His tribe worships Mielikki and is one of the few hins to do so exclusively. You recently completed your training to become a cleric of the goddess. The head cleric of his tribe has charged him to seek out Mielikki outside of the tribe. He has a standing quest to find another “holy ground” for the tribe to call home, since the area is becoming increasingly dangerous. His tribe has been suffering numerous attacks by Orcs in the region. Once he finds a suitable place, he will come back to the village so the entire tribe may move. By the way, he just told the group that Ang means “iron” in hin although they may have already been aware of that.     Elric (Male Human)   Elric was born and raised in Clearwater, a small hamlet south of Daggerford. His father, Dorian, was a skilled fighter and member of The Moor Runners, an adventuring group known for its forays into the High Moor. It was during one of their quests into the Moor that Elric’s father was killed. While investigating a temple dedicated to an ancient demon, Dorian’s company was attacked by a large force of orcs led by a barbarian orc priest. The Moor Runners, low on spells and depleted of healing potions, tried to escape from the ruin. Of the five members of the company, only Gaelyn Greenmantle, a moon elf ranger, managed to escape with his life.   Gaelyn, keeping a promise made to a dying friend, sought out Elric and his mother to tell them of Dorian’s death. Gaelyn also gave Elric one of his father’s prized treasures from a recent quest: a suit of elven chain armor. The elf had also promised Dorian to train his son in the ways of being a ranger. After completing his training, Elric, rather than stay in Daggerford, decided to travel north to Waterdeep. Despite having left Daggerford, Elric swore that he would one day return to Daggerford and journey into the High Moor to seek out the orcs who slew his father.     Falrinn Blackrock (Male Rock Gnome)   Falrinn Blackrock is the only child of the rock gnomes, Korbin and Sheyli Blackrock. Although presently deceased, Korbin Blackrock’s trade was in gems and other precious stones. He considered Waterdeep his home but traveled throughout the Sword Coast and the North plying his trade. It was on a trading venture to Silverymoon where he met, courted, and eventually wed Sheyli, a beautiful young female rock gnome whose skills involved crafting precious metals like silver, gold, or platinum into fancy jewelry. After Korbin and Sheyli got married in Silverymoon, they moved back to Waterdeep where they opened up Blackrock’s Fine Jewels and Gems in the Trade Ward. Their skills in crafting beautiful pieces of jewelry became well known in the City of Splendors. Soon the couple was setting and customizing jewelry for the nobility of Waterdeep and others along the Sword Coast. In 1331 DR, the Year of The Leaping Dolphin, Sheyli became pregnant and the couple moved their shop to another location which could accommodate a growing business and a growing family. On the 7th day of Hammer in 1332 DR, the Year of The Sword and Stars, Falrinn was born.   Life and business moved along smoothly for the next 38 years. Then one day Gharakin “Green Bones”, an evil rogue and priest of Talona and the proprietor of The Red Boot, a run-down flophouse in the South Ward, came into the shop. While viewing the shop’s beautifully crafted jewelries, Gharakin spotted a jade amulet crafted in the form of a skull encircled by bones. Desperate to have it but unable to afford its value, Gharakin tried to barter the price down. Korbin would not budge and Gharakin left the shop only at the insistence of four members of the City Watch. Two rides after the incident, while Sheyli and Falrinn were away visiting relatives in Silverymoon, someone broke into the shop. Alone, Korbin was attacked and brutally murdered. Although the shop and surrounding area was thoroughly searched, Korbin’s body was never found nor was any trace of whomever—or whatever—broke into the shop ever found. Along with Korbin, several pieces of expensive jewelries disappeared, including the jade amulet Gharakin was after. Despite arcane and divine spellcasting attempts at solving the mystery surrounding the death of Korbin and the disappearance of the amulet, the murder and theft remains unsolved. When members of the City Watch went to talk to Gharakin hours after the burglary, he was found dead in his flophouse cellar. The result of his death was obvious—his brain was taken, seemingly ripped out of his skull through his nostrils.   NOTE: Blackrock’s Fine Jewels and Gems can still be found in the Trade Ward of Waterdeep. It is still currently operated by Falrinn’s mother, Sheyli Blackrock, along with a few other gnomes highly skilled in jewelry crafting.     Fierson McDaggers (Male Shield Dwarf)   Born and raised in the demi-human neighborhoods of Waterdeep, fighting is something you're all too familiar with. Trained by Barak Stonefist, a famous dwarven street-fighter, you eventually left his training hall to make a name for yourself. Street fighting, where non-spell casters challenge each other to a duel, is a popular underground and illegal sport in Waterdeep.   Fierson worked as a bouncer in Waterdeep with Ang and is frequently outgoing with the patrons. One night he heard about a dwarf who rose in power to become a Stonelord, which has both hand to hand fighting skills and magics that come from the earth. This was a type of magic that Fierson wasn't wary of. Fierson vowed one day with his best friend Ang that we would set out to find their destiny. Fierson knew his destiny was to become a Stonelord. With his group, the Warriors of Wolfguard Keep, Fierson found a group he truly trusts with his life. Already the group has saved each other’s life on more than one occasion. Fierson will honorably fight alongside his friends in time of need. Fierson also dreams of opening his own smith shop and selling weapons and armor he forges with Ang.     Gilraen (Female Human)   Gilraen is a quiet, beautiful, and eager young woman who was named after the village she was born in. Gilraen is a small village of humans and hins located southeast of the High Forest.   Since birth, Gilraen’s life has been filled with horror and strife. For nearly a winter, Gilraen and the other young girls in the village lived in constant fear of death. Every month, when Selune—Faerun’s moon—was at her fullest, all but one of the village girls, chosen by lottery would be hidden away in garrets, basements, and other secret rooms for safety. On this night, men dressed in black armor with hooded cloaks would ride into the village demanding that the village give up one young girl as sacrifice to them. Each man bore the insignia of the People of the Black Blood upon their armor or shield. The People of the Black Blood is an organization of lycanthropes who worship the beast lord, Malar. It was known that the lycanthropes would take the young girl back into their hidden lair in the High Forest and use her for breeding purposes, resulting in more true lycanthropes being introduced into the organization. For months, the village tried to get help from passing adventurers only to be horrified when the very same adventurers would come back the next month as lycanthropes. Just days after her eleventh birthday, the village lottery indicated that it was Gilraen’s turn to be sacrificed to the evil coven. Despite village decree that she be given to the lycanthropes, Gilraen’s father, a sorcerer of some experience, refused. Later that night, when the raiders arrived at the village, they were infuriated to find that the village had not left them a sacrifice in the village square. Angered by the village’s insolence, the People of the Black Blood attacked the entire village. While some villagers tried to fight back, Gilraen and her family fled the village. Within moments, werewolf hunters, led by a half-elven lycanthrope in hybrid form, were upon her and family. Surrounded, the half-elf ordered the other hunters to slay Gilraen and her family. To save his only child and daughter, Gilraen’s father used a scroll he had discovered in an ancient Netherese ruin upon which was written a unique variation of the dimension door spell. While fending off the lycanthropes, Gilrean’s father pushed her through the magic portal and sealed it immediately.   …For days, Gilraen wandered through the streets of Waterdeep. During this time, the unique spell’s powerful enchantment caused her to suffer delusions, nausea, and fainting spells. Despite all attempts at asking for help, Gilraen was lost in a labyrinth of streets and alleys in an unfamiliar city. One night, as Gilraen found herself in a seamy part of the city, a group of rough looking thugs began to accost her. During her attack, Gilraen was knocked unconscious. Within moments, an elf and a dwarf who were traveling home from a day’s work came upon the thugs and Gilraen. The two immediately fought off the thugs. Regaining consciousness, Gilraen saw a tall person with dark clothing slowly helping her. Despite her fears, Gilraen felt a sense of trust towards the figure. Gilraen also noticed rough, elven features and crimson eyes. His eyes seemed to glow and yet it seemed natural. His expression, that of shame and anger for what had befallen her revealed his true heart. Helping her slowly to her feet, he simply said, "Whatever happens in life I will not judge". From that moment, Gilraen realized that the elf, Ang Calmcacil, was her fate.   Slowly recovering from her horrifying ordeal, Gilraen vowed to take up sorcery and avenge her parents and her village from the People of the Black Blood. Within a winter’s time, Gilraen married Ang despite his family’s resentment of their union. Despite both of their troubled past, Ang and Gilraen both knew that from that moment on, they were bound as one.     Nostariel Ras Elased (Nah-stariel Ras E-la-sed, Female half-elf)   Nostariel Ras Elased, a worshipper of the elven deity, Corellon Larethian, was born in Neverwinter in 17 Eleint, 1340 DR, The Year of the Lion. Her mother, Violet, was a native Waterdhavian who died while Nostariel was still young. Her father, Salvorin Ras Elased, is a half-elf sorcerer of some renown in Neverwinter. To this day, he still mentors apprentice sorcerers at The Cloaktower, the city’s legendary school of arcane magic.   A half-elven woman endowed with beautiful green eyes and long brown curly locks, Nostariel keeps to herself speaking very little unless spoken to. As a helf-elf, Nostariel is used to being shunned by both humans and elves. Not finding acceptance amongst either races, Nostariel kept busy while growing up wandering the many labyrinthine halls of The Cloaktower. While perusing through ancient tomes and scrolls, she came upon an ancient text describing how one can train to become a Spellcaster, a rare class combining the arcane arts of a wizard and the divine spell casting abilities of a cleric. She showed the text to her father explaining that she wanted to be a Spellcaster. Despite discouraging her from this difficult path, Nostariel read the ancient texts and completed her training—mostly on her own. Further research into the ancient texts also revealed information regarding a coven of Spellcasters who once resided and practiced their arts in Waterdeep, The City of Splendors. This group of Spellcasters called themselves The Guild of Arcane Healers. According to the text, the guild practiced their mixture of arcane and divine arts for centuries but disbanded under mysterious circumstances during the Year of the Black Wind (1262 DR). Hearing wonderful tales about the Waterdeep from her mother and hoping to find existing members of The Guild of Arcane Healers, Nostariel decided to travel to Waterdeep.   Upon disembarking in Waterdeep, Nostariel immediately found herself embroiled in the dangers of the city when she came upon a young woman and her son being accosted by thugs. Along with a human ranger named Elric; Ang Calmcacil, a moon elf fighter; and a shield dwarf named Fierson; Nostariel helped the woman and her child by fighting off the woman’s assailants. Soon after, Elric, Ang, and Fierson befriended Nostariel. The three also introduced her to Ang’s human wife, Gilraen.   …To date, Nostariel hasn’t found any trace or information regarding The Guild of Arcane Healers, but she vows to keep on searching.
