Valley of the Brothers

The Valley of the Brothers is located in the easternmost part of the kingdom of Urtheon. It is bordered by the eastern part of the Silver Mountains in the south and the Icy Mountains to the north. Directly east of the valley, Leas Dimeathris, more commonly known as the Dark Forest, is located. The river Bearith flows through this valley.

To this day, the valley is a scarcely populated area with only very few villages and farms. It used to be an unnamed stretch of countryside and only became known as the Valley of the Brothers after the acadeans built twin watchtowers there to guard the border between their lands and the territory of Urtheon. These towers were commonly called the Brothers and the valley was (unofficially) named after them.

After the fall of the Acadean Empire, the towers were no longer used and soon became entirely abandoned. Over time, they fell into disrepair and nature began to reclaim the ruins. Still, the name was so widely known at that point that it stuck, even when the towers were nothing more than overgrown piles of rubble.

The importance of the valley for the urtheonian economy cannot be understated. Aside from the western coast and the trade roads in the western Silver Mountains, the Valley of the Brothers is the easiest access point to Urtheon. Nearly all trade to the east and south uses the road here, making it one of the most frequented trade routes in all of Leanor.

The watchtowers the valley was originally named after no longer exist, but the strategic importance of the Valley of the Brothers for the defense of Urtheon's borders has not been diminished.

The primary defensive position has moved further east near the bridge over the Bearith on the western edge of the Dark Forest where the roads into Urtheon meet.

Still, in times of war and turmoil, the Brothers or rather their position, is often used to defend the bottleneck created by the surrounding mountains, forcing larger attacking forces past the towers.
