Sabian
Sabian is a young Baithan from the city of Lathear, the largest settlement in the country of Baitha. He was born in 1197CE as the oldest of three sons of a baker and would have stood to take over the bakery. In late 1213, Sabian and his younger brothers Kirail and Zadeas met Zairah and Antheos, who told them about the imminent attack on Lathear. The three brothers chose to join their resistance group, which would later be known as the Dragons.
When the city was attacked in the spring of 1214, Sabian and his brothers fought with the other Dragons in their futile attempt to defend Lathear from Iohan and his army. When the battle was lost, many of the Dragons were killed or imprisoned, but Sabian and his brothers, along with a few other Dragons, managed to evade capture. They fled to a village in the Dragon's Ridge that hadn't been completely destroyed during the raids in the previous autumn.
There, they met up with most of the remaining Serbaith, who had taken refuge there, among them Eliorah, a skilled healer, Antheos's sister and Zairah's girlfriend. With Zairah and Antheos captured, Sabian was appointed the Black Dragon and thus became the leader of the Dragons. Most of the remaining Dragons, along with a few of the Serbaith, eventually decided to move to a small cottage in the Dark Forest to be better able to keep an eye on the situation there and to be able to warn the serbaith village of any future attacks and dangers.
Eventually, Sabian and his brothers stumbled upon Zairah, Eleona, Mireanda and Ionathar on their way to Soane to hopefully kill Iohan and prevent the outbreak of a full-scale war in Leanor. They offered them a bed for the night but parted ways in the morning. After failing to kill Iohan, Zairah returned to the cottage in the forest, and together, most of them moved back to the serbaith village. However, when they found a large host marching west from Lathear and towards Eleonis, Sabian and the others chose to ride to Angeleor to support Ionathar and his army in their defense against Iohan.

Sabian was trained to become a baker since childhood, and he would have become one, had his home not been attacked when he was 16 years old. He joined the Dragons without knowing how to fight but eager to learn.
Zairah taught him how to work a bow before the Siege of Lathear, and during the battle, Sabian decided that he would evetually become a fighter, not a baker. In the years between the siege and choosing to fight in Eleonis, he further honed his archery and hand-to-hand fighting skills.
While most of the Serbaith and the Dragons, including Zairah and Eliorah as well as Sabian's younger brothers, chose to return to their respective homes, Sabian instead decided to stay in Angeleor, join the eleonian army and train as a soldier.
