Ancient Acadean
Ancient Acadean was the language that was predominantly spoken in the Acadean Empire. The language originated in the region of Vilsathia, where its speakers were an oppressed minority. When the Acadeans first settled on the shores of the Sea of Fire, they brought their language and culture with them. With the founding and expansion of the Acadean Empire, the language spread all throughout Leanor.
Whilst the dialect now known as Ancient Acadean is no longer used in everyday settings, it has had a lasting impact on all of Leanor. In fact, the languages now spoken in the region could be interpreted as dialects of Ancient Acadean, though they are also influenced by the languages that had previously been spoken. At this point in time, the contemporary dialects are so different from Ancient Acadean that it has to be learned as a separate language.
Nowadays, the way a person speaks and which words they use can be an indicator of their upbringing and education. Ancient Acadean is now considered a language of intellectuals. Educational books are predominantly in Ancient Acadean while prose, poetry and things such as historical records are commonly written in the contemporary language.
Furthermore, Ancient Acadean is the language most of the myths about the Acadean Pantheon have been written in. Since the Seven are still worshipped in large parts of Leanor, Ancient Acadean is still quite present in these regions. Some translations of the texts do exist, but most have not yet been translated into the contemporary languages. Because of this, priests of the Seven are required to learn Ancient Acadean.

For the most part, Ancient Acadean is no longer in use. Still, some knowledge of the language is necessary for higher education since lectures at the universities in Leanor are held almost exclusively in Ancient Acadean.
This leads to a certain feeling of superiority amongst those who know the language. This is mainly seen in highly educated young noblemen who appear to have the need to let everyone know how highly educated they are.
It is not uncommon for such people to have entire conversations in Ancient Acadean or to at least very frequently use phrases and idioms in the language in order to broadcast their presumed superiority. This behaviour is often seen as pretentious and infuriating by others.
