The Puritans
Those with the Puritan mindset believe the body is a sacred vessel and should not be tainted with cyber "enhancement" and outrageous modification. Rooted in Roman Catholicism, Puritans are outwardly against all things modern and are known to hold protests, both passive and violent, against legislature passed in favor of technological advancement. Their numbers have increased drastically in recent times due to more and more outrageous augmentations being developed, furthering the disconnect between humanity and machinery and what it means to be either.
Their leader, Prophet Abraham, is a soft spoken speaker but a fiery revolutionist set on social and cultural reform. He is outwardly assembling a Puritan Militia in an attempt to bring an end to the age of augmentation if diplomacy fails. Labeled as an extremist by the media, Abraham has been shunned by those in power as an extremist with idealistic and unrealistic views on human nature and the natural cycle of human achievement. Despite this, Abraham continues his quest to bring an end to the corruption that is biotech.
Divine Origins
With a beginning linked to the production of augmentations, the Puritans were, originally, a small group of like-minded activists with little influence on issues. However, with the production of Husks more and more people chose to align themselves with their cause, claiming that "science may have gone too far this time".
Ethics
Any mechanical modification to the human body, even for medical reasons, is a sin and is punishable by death. Because Puritans have no say in law enforcement, these attempts at murder often land would-be executioners in prison and keeps public appeal low. Those within the sect accused of modification are forced to "repent" and suffer the same fate.
Political Influence & Intrigue
The Puritans have no seats in Congress and are labeled as extremists by all outside sources. They are considered by the Department of Homeland Security as a Domestic Terrorist Unit and are actively sought and destroyed.
