Vejhim
Vejhim is a mysterious religion held by two entire species of Latani and has pulled in many other individuals of all demographics. The Skulldren and Yabbu communities are entirely Vejhim, with small groups being part of the religion within almost every other community, almost every settlement known has at least one Vejhim member. Vejhim is seen as extremely heretical by other religions, as it deems the other religious gods as false or fakers, because of this, wars would often be fought between those of Vejhim and Quintalasism during the Lost Ages before the First Reform. The religion believes in an entity named Meledus, a shadowy being that lives in the space between realities. Meledus is depicted as pure swirling darkness, whose form and shape would constantly change to his whim, where a face should be, there is only a single candle flame. Meledus is said to appear to his followers in dreams and visions, giving them foresight, knowledge and guidance. Meledus is said to be the tether of space and reality, and able to manipulate space and time to fulfill events shown by his grand foresight, sometimes it is for the will of the cosmos or betterment of the future, other times it is to satisfy his starved urge for amusement. In any example, those of Vejhim only speculate and attempt to understand the mysterious and unknown will of Meledus.
Followers of Vejhim say that Meledus expects belief and worship, but he also encourages his followers to ask questions, about himself, the universe and the world. Meledus is said to not believe in unquestioned servitude without thought or doubt to the contrary. Jhimians believe that there should not be blind followers to anything, and that you should be prepared to properly understand what it is you believe in and to doubt others and yourself in the process, as well as grasp your place in the infinite universe. Vejhim says that you are not born perfect, nor are you any more better if you join a following or other, you must always work to improve yourself and come to terms with the fact that you are just a small speck in the grand scale of space and time around you. Candles are a religious symbol in Vejhim and there are often dozens or hundreds lit in homes and temples.
Servants, envoys and creations of Meledus are said to have amber irises, as seen with the Yabbu and the glowing orange lights that act as the Skulldren's eyes. It is also rumored that the beings known as Calamity and Kelvee were either created or influenced by Meledus due to these features. When Meledus appears to his followers in dreams and visions, the event is described as standing in an empty void of pitch darkness with only a small flame speaking to them in ominous riddles and tones. Those outside the religion see Vejhim as a dark cult of sorts, with Meledus being seen as a delusion at best and an evil corrupting entity at worst. Vejhim is slightly more tolerated nowadays, but the feeling of unease people feel toward the religion is still present.
Death in Vejhim is meant to be an experience to be felt by all and is far from the end. Death is believed to be a mere changing point in your existence, your essence and soul is sent and scattered elsewhere in time or the cosmos. No matter what you were or did in life, how and where you end up next is a mystery, but that is the whole point to death in Vejhim, sometimes not knowing where you end up next is more comforting than knowing the definitive place you will go based on someone else's depiction of good and evil.
Mythology & Lore
Meledus was a dark, eternal being who shifted and changed to the universe around him, his great form made up the endless pool of space and time. Meledus grew depressed and longing looking down at his eternalness, he knew that he was a true god and knew that he could do whatever great deed he wanted, but instead he wished to walk amongst the plethora of life within himself and find purpose and entertainment, so he willed his consciousness to leave his body. Knowing he could not go back, he scoured the cosmos, searching for the life and wonder he once could not properly see and experience. He wanted to find some place to settle down and rest after his millennia of seeing the beauty of dead planets and burning stars. Eventually he found a planet named Latani, it was the very first time he had ever discovered other forms of life. It was fought over by beings who had powers beyond belief, so the beings believed themselves as gods. Knowing what conflict, intrigue and entertainment might be provided in the years to come, he decided that this would be his home. He created his chambers in the space between realms, and helped others see the infinity and workings of the universe he saw. He would be honest with his followers and blessed them with the newfound warmth and knowledge he would now bring them.
Tenets of Faith
Worship
Worship in Vejhim is very simple, once a night you must find a place to be alone in a dark place with a single lit candle, you can either bow or clasp your hands and then completely empty your mind of all thought and emotion to anywhere from 5-10 minutes, some worship for much longer. It is in this empty state of mind that you allow Meledus to enter your mind and soul as a show of respect and devotion. In this state it is also said to allow Meledus to properly flow through you, to give wisdom or to simply allow connection.

There have been a handful of historical accounts where followers of Vejhim were given definitive powers seemingly out of nowhere. Future sight, speech with the dead, increased strength and speed, unique magical abilities and even rumors of immortality.
