Darklord Cronin

Cronin is the one of the current human leaders of the people of dark magic in Latani. Cronin inherited his position as Darklord from his father Kaste's wishes due to his possession of Magic Overload, a rare genetic condition that increases magic content in the body to an unstable degree. Cronin learned to control his dangerous level of magic by allowing it to flow out of his right eye to alleviate the strain on his body, shown as a black-purple flame that constantly burns out of the eye socket, though this has blinded his eye, the flame itself does not hurt him.   Cronin arrived on Latani at just 7 years old when he and his people were displaced from Seroma in an event known as the "Great Banishment" (or as the Forsaken Arrival by many in Latani). This soon led to the War of Flesh and Scales when the current ruler of the continent Ledoux saw the new people who wielded black magic as a threat to his position. Cronin spent most of his childhood in the midst of this war, being the son of the current Darklord gave him firsthand experience and knowledge about how to lead and fight, event at a young age. When his father Kaste fled and abandoned his responsibilities without a trace, it was up to Cronin and his brother Tasuman to lead their people to victory. Cronin's skills in dark magic are unparalleled due to his magic overload, enabling him to cast extremely powerful spells with little effort, the downside to magic overload is that if he loses control, the magic takes over his body, transforming him into a mindless monster. This event has only happened twice, but both times have left many dead and many buildings destroyed, so he choses to use his magic only when necessary.   People often describe Cronin as a kind, smart, and thoughtful leader, but that he also has a sullen air of tiredness around him. Cronin is a little closed off emotionally, rarely opening up to others on a personal level. Cronin advocates for peace and cooperation between the humans and the various other species in Latani, choosing to make a better life for his people on the new world. Cronin is usually found in his studies in his castle in Cressida, choosing to leave just to visit other leaders in diplomatic meetings or whenever he is needed for important issues.
