Magic, powerstones and spell scrolls
Magic:
Magic is all around you in a what is similar to background radition which comes from the sky. Therefore using spells down underground is harder than casting them at the top of a mountain. Though simply casting magic from this ambient power is hard and their effect is severly limited (cantrips). Most magicians therefore incorperate some other kind of magical energy into their spells. Put simply there are three ways of casting more powerful spells.Stone casters:
Artificier Bard Wizard (Eldritch knight, Arcane trickster, Presicent knight)Conduit casting:
Cleric Druid Paladin Ranger WarlockInnate casting:
Monk SorcererInnates: Innate casters are both their own source of magic. In both cases it's because a biological cause, though these classes represent individuals in different stages of controlling their inner power. If magic is radiation then innate casters are nuclerar reactors. Their power are countinualy surpressed or expended they will meltdown. Though of course their magic is not constant, sometimes they both they need to recharge. Sorcerers are always young, their inexperience with their powers allow for more "explosive" feats of magic but they are also more dangerous to themselves and their surrondings. Monks are always older, they are sorcerers who found ways of suprresing their powers and are often content in peaceful lifestyles. Their magic is expressed in subtle methods in the way of ki. Conduits: Conduit casters are casters which in themselves don't harbour any magic. Instead they collect it from some other source to be able to empower their spells. The cleric draws it from the general devotion to the god they serve, therefore spells are easier to cast in areas which their faith is more prevevalent. The paladin also empovers with devotion, though it's instead to concepts instead of gods, though often their concept is motivated by a godly decree. Their own devotion can even be enough to ppwer their spells though that requires a strict mental attitude. The Druids and Rangers draw power solely from the ambient magic. Exactly how this is acomplished is a protected secret which has never been written down and is passed down teacher to student within circles. It has been theriozed that some potential within plant life is the source. Perhaps like the devotion of religion there is a power produced by plants even though they aren't sentient? The Warlock don't aggregate their magic from a mass of things. Instead they have one patron from which they get the power. Warlock intellectuals have theorized that the reason thet these entities who become patrons do it is a mutually beneficial deal. The patron also draws power from their subjects because of their devotion to the patron. To access this power the warlocks learn ritual which attarcts the power from their patron and then they infuse that power into an object which serves as their spellcasting focus, similar to how power stones work.
Powerstones:
Stone casters all use powerstones to cast their spells. Magic is ambient, some objects nullify this magic like Iron and Magnetitsium. Though some objects instead attract this magic better than other. The most prevevalent of these are powerstones, certain types of stones, each more attached to a certain element. Though any powerstones can be used to cast spells. These stones are often placed in necklaces, ring, armbands or even earrings ( an artificier instead incorperats these into manufactured objects, just remember to use anything other than iron, brass is a popular choice. Though their power is not infinite, eventually the either runt out magical energy or crack. If they run out of magic, they need roughly a week of charging to regain their power. If they crack they need to be replaced. Staff mages also use these powerstones, though they compliment it with a wood staff made of a magical attracting species of wood.Spell scrolls:
A "spell scroll" is a solaris coin Mynttyper i Kolindar. They have a hole in the middle of them. Into this hole you place a powestone. The differance from stone casting is that here the coin around it is inscribed with certain runes which directs the magic towards the spell that the caster wants. This allows it to exceed the normal amount of magic that an individual is able to wield without frying their brain. It takes one action to release the magic within the "scroll" and as a part of this action you make the check to see if you retain the magic or if it scatters from you. Then you may cast the spell as normal within an amount of minutes equal to the difference between dc and your result ((a minimum of one)if you would automatically succeed on the check because you can cast a spell of that level) then you treat the roll as a 20+relevant bonus to the check that would have been made). Everyone can use these though the ability used is the one corresponding to the spell list and spellcaster who created it.
