Ajarna

Ajarna is the name of the underground ocean beneath Huskaria. It is a huge ocean and is also incredibly deep and full of predators. The Liopleurodon population reigns supreme. Metriorynchus prowls the shallows and near-surface waters. Leedsichthys roam the deep ocean predating on smaller fish and amphibians.

Geography

It is an under ground ocean with a few small islands scattered throughout the ocean. It spans an area of 371,000 km². The ocean floor is filled with Stalagmites but some coral reefs have popped up around the Spartinite crystals. Some coral species have begun to form on stalagmites to create bush-like formations where fish and squid live. While rare some species of kelp do grow but only around large spartinite crystals.

Ecosystem Cycles

at the start of spring the blooded flood happens which usually ends with most adult exalopterix dead.

Localized Phenomena

The Blooded Flood- The water will inexplicably turn red and the water from the bottomless murk will rush into the ocean dragging all the river dwellers with it this causes the Exalopterix flock to rush out before they drown and clash with the Nimulkiar moths. This lasts at most two hours at least half an hour. It is a Quinquennial event and most the adult Exalopterix die however the unhatched eggs hatch at least a week later. After the hour the water will return to normal and the river dwellers will rush back to the bottomless murk.

Fauna & Flora

The main producer in these oceans are plankton and algae. Catfish and whale-shark feed off plankton to get nutrients. Galmeran Sea-Scorpions are Nomadic and have no home, They travel around and cut off small pieces of kelp from around the stem to eat, They are about 1.7m long. Feeding off of these small fish are Leedsychthys shoals which being the biggest fish in Ajarna are preyed upon by the large predator populations, they are approximately 27m long. Metriorynchus are completely marine crocodiles that prey upon both the smaller fish but they tend to begin eating sick leedsychthys alive beginning their feasts at the fins, they are approximately 3m long. Liopleurodon is one of the largest predatory reptiles to ever exist in Lasital, they are most common in Ajarna but pop up elsewhere, they mostly prey on Leedsychthys but sometimes eat smaller creatures, they are about 25m long. Large pterosaurs called Exaleopterix inhabit the islands dotting the ocean and hunt fish that wander near the surface. Plants called giant water-wheels float around and trap small sized fish to digest. some of the small islands have some small trees but only the ones with spartinite. Tyrule (Giant, Intelligent creatures with a long fish-like body, four arms and an octopus head) have made a small nomadic civilisation under the deep waves.

Natural Resources

Spartinite- The glowing crystals that provide the subterranean world with light.
Leedsichthys blubber- A popular alchemical ingredient
Metriorynchus hide- used to make cloaks to prove a hunters experience.
Giant water-wheel flowers- used in medicines.
Galmarian Scorpion Pincer- Used in tribal and ritualistic jewellery.

History

in 2231 Rogviid the lich lord traveled through here to find an ancient shrine to Niidgrotep (and became a lich at that very shrine) while being pursued by a group of pirates hired by a nobleman who's daughter he had kidnapped as a sacrifice to Niidgrotep.
