Blue Wolf

"You realize you'll need a title."   Midir sighed and regarded Faelan with half-lidded eyes as he lounged further down in the padded leather chair. So much for a quiet time in the reading room, perusing a new book. "Yes, but I've no interest in a kingship or high councilorship or a grand premiere. Those words carry too much negative weight at present."   "Gabby's been calling you the Blue Wolf. Why not try that?"   Midir raised an eyebrow, then chuckled. "Blue Wolf. I'm certain Jarosa will howl in laughter once she hears."

The Wolf Collaborate

Midir, Faelan, and the other rebel leaders who were part of the Wolf Collaborate planned for the fall of the Dentherion Empire. They saw the signs, and were ready--though even they could not predict the quickness of it.   With this fall came a dearth of leadership--one that the rebels knew they needed to fill before another entity grasped at the frayed ends of empire and tried to capture it. Jarosa, Veritiate Deathknell of the Meint and Commander of the Ramiran Rebels, thought that the Wolf Collaborate should step in and fill that void.   Rebel leadership already collaborated through the Wolf. Why not use the organization as a base for a post-empire government? The rebels agreed, since they already had links to it, but one problem remained: a leader.

A Leader

While the rebel organizations from various empire countries worked together, they knew that they would need someone to take charge and make hard decisions when the rest of them butted heads.   Eyes drifted to Jarosa, who adamantly refused. Unwilling to get on her bad side, the next choice was Midir. He, after all, was the true heir to the Jilvaynan throne and had taken his charge seriously. So it was decided, Midir would lead the re-invisioned Wolf Collaborate.   But what would they call him?

Gabby's Idea

While Midir was technically Lord Krios, he disliked the name. He felt more kinship to his rebel name than to the one his parents bestowed. Because of that, he did not wish to be called a king, and certainly did not want to use Dentherion Empire honorifics.   Gabrielda, intrepid street rat, knight-in-training, and courier for the rebels, had started calling him the Blue Wolf. As a courier, she developed code names for those she ran messages for, and Midir was no exception. She knew that the Jilvaynan rebels were led by a Blue Council, and had a passing knowledge of the Wolf Collaborate. So she started calling Midir the Blue Wolf, the one in charge.   Midir, having no better option, and no want to find another considering he had many, many more serious problems on his hands, accepted the Blue Wolf as a title.   And, much to his exasperation in years to come, it stuck.

"You could always call yourself the Green Wolf because your eyes are green. Then Jarosa can be the Brown Wolf, and Faelan can be the Purple Wolf...and I'll be the Knight Wolf!"
