Session 18: Dawn Square Report

Ambush!   Nevard Sechim's speech is interrupted by no fewer than five flayed jaguar monstrosities and ten skeletons disguised as Skyseer followers. The party was able to pinpoint two of the exit points where an attack from the Bleak gate might occur, but missed the third and largest.   The fight was tough, but Nevard, all of his entourage, all of the city guards, and all but two civilians survived. The party reported back to headquarters for debriefing and rest.   The next morning, the party split up to check over evidence and interrogate prisoners, attempting to find some way of connecting Mayor Reed Macbannin to more than just the attack on Nevard. Any move against one of the city's mayors, especially one appointed to his position by  Governor Roland Stanfield is a political disaster waiting to happen, and would require getting enough evidence to convince Lady Inspectress Margaret Saxby to sign off on it.   Interviewing the two imprisoned dragonborn got a name, Creed, and the location of multiple letters requesting the dragonborns' arson services, burning down factories that were then bought up by relatively impoverished and inexperienced nobles and foreigners.   The episode ended at 10 am, day 6 of summer.
