State of the world
The World
Lanmet is two continents that are near each other on a spherical world made mainly of water. There is one sun and one moon and a day lasts 24 hours.Aux - the Western Continent
The Aux Trade Cant is the most common language. The northern tip has a large tropical jungle called The Shade, below it is a desert called The Burn - these land are inhabited by the Sugazeh Tribes. Below this land is the coast of Krato and the The Contested Lands. The Contested Lands exists with the northern area of Montihume.Cascia - The East Continent
A majority of the people speak the Cascadian Tongue. On the northern part of the contient is the mountainous realm of Bast. On the east side of the mountain range that divides it the escaped slave people of Dost live. South of them surrounding a great forest is the kingdom of Al Renya. The exiled people of First Loss live in the swamps south of them. The War of Wood and Steel is a major event that shaped this continent, where the Bast Oligarchy and the Renyan Unitary fought a war against each other.Climate
The equator touches the tip of Aux and goes over the top of Cascia. The Southern part of Sugazeh and Bast are hot and dry, deserts form here. Al Renya, Paradian Archipelago and The Contested Lands are generally temperate. The Drowned Land, Bakan and Southern Montihume are wet. The trade winds bring warm air to the coast of Krato - making it warmer and wetter, near the deserts of Sugazeh and bring cold air to the coast of Renyan Unitary, making it colder and wetter. These winds allow easy trade between nations and the trip from Al Renya to Krato bring them near the Paradian Archipelago but also bring in storms to the coasts. The Return of Humans
Thousands of years ago all humans left the world. Slowly the world has been re-inhabited by three groups; Those Left Behind
When the Divinities chose to leave, some were left behind. They lost their super human aspects and became as common man. Many claim their lineage from these people, citing them as the true heroes. The Inheritors
Some say if the Divinities had truely left, then these people would have taken their place. Now they have been forced into positions of subservience where they still exist. Made of the Wretch and the Peace Makers. The Created
In some places, through either god or machine, new people now exist. Often these were left with gifts or find the land provides for them, lending to their claims of divine providence. This group is made up of Concepts, Formed and Alkken.A world without metal
Previous civilizations stripped the land of most of the surface metals. This means that the only real sources of metal are the recently formed mountains of Bast, the chunks of molten metal spewed forth by the Thousand Eyes of the Sun and any metal that can be scavenged from relics of the past. Technology has been greatly hindered by the lack of metal. The economy hasn't yet developed coin systems but metal still acts as a solid barter good.Old world metal
Some metal survived the end of the world. This metal is often much stronger than what can be made with the technology of the day. The best places to find it are the Sunken Towers, Thousand Eyes, Paradian Archipelago and The Million Sleeping.Great Beasts
Dream-skin Beasts
The Sugazeh say that there are beasts so above their fellows to be like a Madcapped to a normal man. They feed on the stories told of them and grow. Tales say that these beasts have tough hides and are cleverer than similar creatures. Some talk of mystic powers they wield but these are often dismissed, even by those that believe the stories. This is often regarded as just stories however Al Renya has rumours of similar creatures deep in Alk Dennay. The People of Dost speak of creatures that stalk the deep places in the mountains too.Altered Beasts
Before the world was abandoned, beasts were twisted from there natural forms. Now the spawn of these ancient progenitors stalk the world, sometimes more deadly but often with specialized purpose. Examples: Glow CatsThe World Changes
The Tools Unfettered
Spies around the world have become desperate, something deadly is coming and new plans are being made. Show SpoilerFaith Shaken
The world has been asked a question, what happens if a god dies? Show SpoilerWalgur who is secretly an Ascendant has gone missing. Walgur tried to keep the other Ascendants in balance and to keep his small project going. The others are now suspicious, is this one of his plans? is someone strong enough to take one of them out? Did someone finally act against him?
The suspects:
The Collector may have gotten sick of Walgur halting the progress of the world. By removing him, the world could change and new stories could be created.
The Hedonist may have been threatened by the change of life or have become bored.
Ascendant Maddcapped may have wanted the challenge of taking out an equal.
The Ascendants are incredibly hard to kill and immortal, there is the chance some lost technology or an Eidos-forged weapon could kill them. There is always the worry that an outside force killed him.
There is also the threat of the Wards. He gave them power but was also a leash. What if they struck at him.
The final possibility is this is a ploy of some kind. Walgur is a genius and intelligent even by Ascendant standards. Could this be a power play against the others?
