Sugazeh

Drinking and taking drugs, either for recreation or as a stimulant, is seen as a normal part of the life. However, those that binge will die quickly or simply miss their opportunity to advance from being a Nameless.
All across Sugazeh tequila is a common drink. It is a raw and strong version of it. In the northern areas wine is a common drink and also thought of as low quality.

The Sight

In Sugazeh plants can be found in The Shade that the juice of can be drunk. When drunk it makes people alert and have a range of spiritual experiences.

Licking the fizzing rock will cause the person to become incredibly confident and the rest of their emotions will become heightened too.
It isn't addictive physically but being so confident can be hard to give up, especially for leaders with doubts.

Krato

The Kratian vinyards will often be plundered by the Sugaz, leading them to focus on making small quantities of high quality wine. The more common drinks are cheaper vodkas and whiskeys which are more mass produced and keep better for sea travel drinking.
Drugs are fairly rare for the Kratians as they don't produce any of their own. Some trade will happen where they take The Sight from Sugaz and export it and bring foreign drugs to Aux.
Intoxication is rare in daily life as it can be deadly if a raid happens, while Stone Sitting it is a common way to pass the time.

Drinking and drugs are frowned upon when The five wears are discarded or worn improperly.

Paradigm

The temperate nature of the Paradian Archipelago means that it is best suited for gin and vodka, though it doesn't stop the locals from trying to grow grapes or experimenting with other drinks. The Parads also import many different drugs from all over the world, though they are prohibited by the Justice guild.

Bast/Dost

Cheap wine is available but brandy is the drink of choice for the First People. A strong rum is made available to the Wretches in the mines or injured on the battlefield and the practice became common in Dost too. Looking Glass is the main drug for the First People, while Wretches have little access to anything outside of tobacco.
Excess is common among the Oligarchs and the lower classes, it is seen as the practice of those who can afford it or who have nothing to lose.

Al Renya

Wine is grown in the northern areas, many of the vinyards supply Al Renya and Bast. Red wine (Heh) is associated more with the Bast while a higher quality white (Hek) is seen as the drink of nobles. The lumberers prefer ale and the soldier class will either have ale as well, or near The Drowned Land, whiskey is common.

The sale and consumption of alcohol and drugs are policed in the urban areas. Public conduct is the key factor in legality.

Drink of the Courts

It is said when strife starts happening between different groups in the Renyan Unitary, they turn to this drink. The Lost

Strong drinks that double as alcohol to disinfect wounds are the drink of choice. Gin, whiskey and vodka are the most common of the drinks with preferences changing based on what is brewed on the barge or what can be traded for.
The need for alcohol and drugs is seen as necessity for life and always with alternative purposes, such as cleansing wounds or the use of the Mark of the Cutter.

Mark of the Cutter

This is a tattoo made of a plant that grows in the The Drowned Land. The tattoo can have vinegar poured over the skin and it will dissolve and be absorbed into the blood.

When absorbed the bearer will become incredibly relaxed and also concentrated for a few hours. It is well known as a way to prepare Coups, especially for their first raid.
