Vulhuan Burial Druid

The burial traditions of the Vulhuan religion are complex. To oversee and execute these rituals Burial Druids or Vaelmi are place in any town or city that have enough standing to enjoy the privileges of having a Burial Cairn.

Career

Qualifications

To become a Burial Druid one is first an apprentice of a Druid Circle and then either volunteers or is chosen to become an apprentice Burial Druid. The amount of time need to qualify to become a independent Burial Druid is different for each master Burial Druid. A master chooses when to promote an apprentice, depending on the proficiency of the apprentice and the Burial Cairn that they are assigned (high volumes of burial rituals breeds proficiency quickly).
Often master Burial druids of higher volume Cairns take on more than one apprentice at a time. this fact coupled several master Burial Druids assigned to the same Cairn makes larger Cairns powerhouses in training new Burial Druids.

Career Progression

Usually a newly trained Burial Druid finds themselves assigned to smaller Burial Cairns either on the peripheries of a larger town or city's central Cairn or remotely in a town by itself. It takes many years for a Burial Druid to rise the ranks because it take the death of a higher stationed Burial Druid to create the need to move a new on to a more prominent town or city.

Perception

Purpose

The Disposal and burial of the deceased.

Social Status

The Druids that perform this profession are well respect yet many of them are grim and eccentric in their ways and because of the rituals they perform, many of the Cethi people tend to leave them be if the druid is not needed for their profession.
In The Druid hierarchy they are one of the lowest ranks, owing to their great demand and relatively low required skill. Burial Druids are manly subservient to higher druids and are only used as guides through the catacombs beneath the cairns.

Operations

Workplace

All Burial Cairns have at least one Burial Druid to tend for the skulls of the dead and to prepare the newly departed for their storage in the cairn. often times in larger Cairns there are networks of Skull catacombs beneath the Cairn in order to store the older and more forgotten skulls when the main chamber is filled.

Provided Services

Burial Druids not only prepare and tend to the skulls of the dead. They also help those who wish to visit older skulls in the catacombs by acting as guides through the often times cramped and confusing tunnels. It is also been known to be treacherous in the catacombs beneath Cairns due to cave-ins and the possible spirits within the deeper reaches.

Dangers & Hazards

It is has been known to be treacherous in the Skull catacombs beneath Cairns due to cave-ins and the possible malevolent spirits within the deeper reaches. If a skull is some how broken or otherwise disturbed, it has been known to cause malevolent shades to prowl the catacombs, this usually happens deeper in where the skulls are older and more fragile or in areas were the skulls of the deranged and hated were sealed away.
