The Creation (according to the CHL)
Vesper, the Goddess of life is the world and the mother of all creatures. She is the ground beneath your feet, the food in your belly, the land before your eyes, the flesh bones and sinew of your body and the center of all that is good and right. She is the greatest of the divine beings known to inhabit the realm. Alongside her is the Goddess Ilioz, the bringer of light and truth. In her light is all revealed and in her warmth is found compassion for all. Vesper and Ilioz, together with the other Tertiary Beings make up the physical and mortal realm providing order and beauty to the world.
The first child of the Goddess was Imperious, who was physically molded from the brilliant ores found in abundance in Vesper’s mines dug by the Chlach. His countenance shone almost as bright as Ilioz. Ilioz out of jealousy reached out to the darkness between the stars and from the depths pulled out Dagon, the black dragon. His darkness dulled the golden dragon’s shine which no longer shone as brightly as the sun.
Imperious wrote the laws of existence creating stability and peace for millennia. Dagon believed that without conflict and chaos the rest of Vesper’s inhabitants would be weak and life pointless. So he fashioned a spear tipped with a diamond forged in the fires of Ilioz. He thrust the spear into the surface of the world creating a hole that’s depth reaches the heart of Vesper. From this abyss water erupted and flooded much of the land. The world's soul fractured causing shadows to be formed and wild magic to be born. Vesper trembled in pain for years causing mountains to rise and fall, continents to sunder and split.
In retribution Imperious wrested the spear from the black dragon and ran him through his dark heart, so full of hatred and malice. His blood droplets littered the world's surface and each grew into a dragon each unique in intellect and in palate. Some were as powerful and smart as their progenitor, others were no better than beasts rampaging and causing death and destruction. They called themselves the Dathte, the painted ones.
Imperious called to the Chlach and caused them to craft dragons after his own image in various metals to counter the menace of the Dathte. The Meinn were forged to be compassionate, loyal and just as deadly as their colorful kin.
The Chlach that assisted Imperious were cursed for breaking their neutral vow, with mortal bodies. Becoming the first and only Dwarves.
