Emergence of the Mortal Races

Time fades even legend, and few know what transpired before the modern mortals came into dominance. The civilizations present were both pre-literate and poor at record-keeping. Scholars have managed to piece together enough to call this the age of dragons and giants as they were the dominant species of the world. It was then, that the word ‘Erdos’ was created to give name to the world, though it remains unclear who invented it. Giants and dragons were locked in a perpetual state of war, sometimes even against their own. Despite their tremendous power, these two species had some important flaws. The dragons were too isolationistic—down to the individual—to keep a cohessive state for long, while the giants were extremely slow to change. As a result, the giant and dragon civilizations slowly faded, though not completely. But it is irefutable that they were no longer the masters of the world. It was then, that the arhcaic humanoids, still primitive nomadic hunter-gatherers at the time, emerged to claim lordship over this world.
