Superserum Permeation

Darma > Okay, so before we go do the following tests, I need to remind you of the heightened effect of the superserum here on Ymir. Remember, even though we updated the documentation, there's still a randomness involved. So never go full force immediately, alright?   Valya Ymirborn > Noted. Grip training first, right?   Darma > Correct. Here's the dynamometer. Remember, baby steps.   Valya looks Darma straight in the eye as she grips the meter with her right hand. She increases her grip, causing the needle to steadily rise until the limit. Without blinking, she squeezes one last time and a breaking sound is heard from the device.   Darma > ... Fuck.

As known rather globally at this point, the Superserum is more effective on Ymir. As to the why, a lot of classified folks did and do a lot of classified research into that, so no need to go into that here. Could be any reason, from using local ingredients, the alien environment, interaction with Black Lung vaccines, weird stellar magic. Not our problem.   The what, that is our problem. Because a strong Tier 2 on Ymir is more powerful than a Tier 5 on Earth used to be. That's not mentioning the higher Tiers, especially the rare Tier 5s. Because let's not forget, the Battle Spears are here to be bodyguards. Not fucking supersoldiers. Yet that is what we are now considered to be. And with that came the expectations. All that political pressure, about how useful the Spears could be if they participated in armed combat. Defying the very independence and neutrality that the Science Department and Spears are meant to follow.   Now let's talk the how. We call it Superserum Permeation. Because for some reason, the serum is effectively getting through bodies faster. It reaches more deeply, and basically with less waste product. As a result, the power-ups are faster but also more intense. And even more importantly, this increased effect is also less predictable. With some folks, they get their boosts way faster than average. In semi-mathematic terms, the relative deviation has swung up, with more intense outliers.   This increased boost comes with an increased risk of injury, as the training protocols weren't designed for such a large variety. As such, all Battle Spear training comes with extreme care and observation. Fortunately, most new recruits understand just fine and properly adhere to safety protocols. Some, however, feel like they need to prove a point and cost us money due to deliberately breaking training equipment. Point taken, Ymirborn. Now knock it off.
