The
Battle Spears are deployed to various theaters, which all have their own circumstances. Protecting a scientist visiting the
First City, patrolling the
Science Department compounds, escorting a medical group visiting Homesteads, and going on an exploration into the
Ymir wilderness, are all their own beast. So while basic training is the same for all, there also is specialised training depending on a Spear's primary work.
The Boar Spears, not to be confused with the ideology of the
Hunting Spears, are specifically trained to be able to deal with wildlife attacks. As they are escorting armoured trucks, their primary focus isn't shielding their charge, but to take out the threats. This means not only knowing exactly where to strike, but also being able to respond to a surprise attack. If a situation escalates and an
Ursa Major attacks them from the flank, they need the right reflexes to strike back safely. This requires a proper mix of defense and offense.
Training programs involve various techniques, practiced to ingrain into muscle memory. VR training provides a varied environment which essentially is designed to keep the fight into the fight-or-flight response to a sudden attack. Finally, specialised training drones test the effectiveness of the response, differentiating between a weak panicked attack and a focused one.
It should be noted that without passing a Boar Spear examination thrice, a Battle Spear will not be allowed to escort any exploration that travels beyond Homesteads. And only the best are assigned to travel into the unknown.
