Elsa Northbrook
When the party first met Elsa Northbrook, she was a barmaid in the Stonehill Inn in Phandalin.
Her parents were travelling near Phandalin when they were killed by a band of roving goblins. Her mother hid her in a secret compartment in the base of their wagon, and she remained hidden there for two days, forced to listen to the sound of the goblins murder and then eat her family. After the goblins left, she wandered lost through the woods until she was found by Daran Edermath, out on a hunting trip. After discovering the fate of her parents, he took her in as an orphaned ward.
As she grew older, Elsa persuaded Daran to teach her to handle a blade, determined never to be caught defenceless like her parents. Over the years she grew quite proficient. During the assault on Phandalin she was able to defend the Stonehill family against superior numbers of attackers until the party arrived and evened the odds.
She is in a romantic relationship with Kal Alderleaf. Inspired by the party's bravery during the destruction of Phandalin, they have formed an adventuring party. They recently teamed up with Snakey the Kenku, and Serax the Iskathi; and are now regularly taking on mid-level quests on behalf of the citizens of Thundertree and Neverwinter.
