Anyit Intent (An-ee-yit In-tent)

Anyit Intent is within the divining arsenal of the Augurs. Far beyond the cheap party tricks discovered by mages' guilds across Trinen, Anyit Intent is used to divine the entire history and future of items. In performing the cauldron's associated ritual, any item inside acts as a sensor with expanded capabilities.   While the Augury initially struggled to maneuver the cauldron's capabilities, they found a robust use for turning objects that had been divined into gifts, fulfilling the items' futures after already observing it. The most famous example of this was the divination of a diamond-glass brazier gifted to the baron of Shellbay. As the Augurs had already divined the brazier's future, they knew it would be accepted and placed in the baron's dining hall for years. As such, they were already aware of any conversation held in the dining hall. When the brazier was eventually identified as a sensor, a short conflict with the barony erupted. However, the augurs had decided how to deal with the conflict long before it occurred.

A Pricey Ritual

While the cauldron seems like a surefire way of spying on any individual's future without consequence, the ritual to divine an object is all but simple. Firstly, the item must fit into the cauldron and act as its core component. The required component must be an item of no less than 10,000 gold pieces, making such a "gift" from the Augury rather suspicious. One can't simply slip a divined quill into a politician's purse with hopes of seeing their entire future. Further, past Augurs have noted performing the (undisclosed) details of the ritual to the very drop of ink as their predecessors write it while yielding no results. The conditions are surely meant to be precise and there is much to learn about how it may be properly performed.

Recorded Details

  • Should the ritual fail with the component inside, it is consumed as if it were sinking in acid.
  • Upon failing a ritual, the Augurs often struggle to remember what the component was.
  • The water within the cauldron must be boiling to work (further limiting the number of acceptable components).
  • Relics or magical items ordained by Chaimut yield no effect.
  • During Ettermiddag, the Cult of Verivem were recorded performing similar rituals.
  • Certain forms of biological material yield no effect, though the reason or pattern behind the items is unknown.
