The War

It all began with a conjurer, or a summoner. He entered the lush land of Frarore1, intending to inhabit it. The things he summoned, however, were not as benevolent as he led people to believe.

Deep into the Abyss he reached, coaxing out various demons of a dark nature. He demanded they do his bidding, and he secured the land by surrounding it in mountains, with but a single large entrance gate to the north. He fortified himself, and begun amassing an army. It was after amassing this army, however, that things went terribly wrong for him.

He had summoned a power he could not control, and this power took over his body entirely. It was then the world learned to fear Zardon, the Demon Lord of Darkness.

The shining Cataclysm, which altered the face of the land forever.

Zardon, Lord of Darkness

It wasn't well known, at first, the extent of power Zardon possessed. But very swiftly, he nearly doubled his already large demon army and marched upon the world. Smendor and Caisan were the first to respond, with Elves coming from Ravendale and Dwarves from the Steel Hills to the northwest. The war was a long, bloody war.

The Grand Wizard of Ezreich, Gar, was the most powerful magic user known amongst the lands. During the final battle, he rode directly into Frarore, and faced Zardon in single combat. For the most part, Zardon's enemies were quickly retreating. In this duel, Gar used an experimental spell which ripped a hole into the fabric of modern day magic, which caused an explosion so great that all of Frarore was decimated. The wildlife died, and the land became desolate. The rainforests north were also eradicated, leaving nothing but desert behind. Gar and Zardon, who had been at the center of the blast, had been eviscerated.

The sacrifice of those who died was honored, and the cataclysm itself ushered in a new era. For the world had been changed, forever. To differentiate events that happen in the "common era", dates are preceded with A.G.C (After the Great Cataclysm). Events that occurred before the Cataclysm are given the title B.G.C (Before the Great Cataclysm). This style is still currently in use.
