Android

Androids, machines that have come to the point of plausible sentience.    

Components

Within an android, there are a few key components worth mention, whereas many parts are not much different from augments used on the general populous, arms, optical sensors, and voice boxes, These are often referred to collectively as the shell, though an android has always within it what's known as its "Brain" (or harddrive)

Android Brain

The android brain varies in complexity between models, but for the most common androids serving menial tasks, it is typically a mechanical component comparable to a disk reading hard drive. The brain of an android functions as its personality, its memories, and so on. this unit is most commonly installed in the torso of the android, with two general schools of thought for placement being the chest and the nape of the neck. The latter is more often used for combat androids who are more likely to be expected to sustain damage to their shell, requiring a switchout of body. The brain of an android, if it can be recovered, can be installed in a new shell, letting androids continue on living beyond substantial damage, and for those who have much cash to spend on shells, it can be an easy expense for an intimidating addition to one's infantry forces. The brain is also the most expensive part of the average android, having at least twice the value of the shell as a general rule of thumb.

Blackbox

When an android is to be used for highly secretive missions, it's commonplace for those who can afford it to install a more secure storage component into the android in question. The blackbox acts as both an encrypted, and more physically resilient storage for information, being able to sustain gunfire to a greater degree, but usually running a cost that can be almost as much as a new shell. While a highly useful tool for keeping information safe, the downside the blackbox suffers is that gaining information within may take some time, as the android needs to unlock the files, and then move them over to their temporary memory.

The crew was backed up in a corner, a crew of three mercenaries keeping safe the Cheif executive and his android assistant, all that was left was the bunker door, with a quick snap from his superior to "Unlock the door!" the android nodded "Very well sir, accessing the blackbox" putting its hands behind its back for a good few seconds while the approaching rush of feet came closer, the android looking back up at the keypad just as the pursuers turned the corner "Key combination retrieved sir, opening the door." (in-game, using a blackbox might take a turn of combat, a level 3 (possibly 2) victory may also disrupt the decryption process.)

Power supply

Androids can be powered in various ways, designs vary from those who run on a regular electric charge, those who have internal miniature reactors, and some are mainly fueled by consuming ordinary food and converting it into energy through a simulated digestion process. Each way an android is powered can carry with its own benefit and possible issues. Androids powered by internal reactors may be more volatile if shot in the correct manner, while ones run solely on simulated digestion often have a low power output.

Shell

The body of the android is sometimes called a shell, this refers to all the parts of it which are interchangeable with human augments, such as limbs, sensors, vocal modules, and so on. a shell can be expensive depending on its design, and its functionality may vary depending on the purpose of the "model" so to speak. Often, androids meant for entertainment will have silicone and resins used to mimic human traits, whereas androids meant for combat will more often appear more like cyborgs than augmented humans.  

Models

Androids come in a wide variety of models, these are produced by companies leading in the fields, big branches within this are Augment manufacturers, Coding corporations and Hardware manufacturers. Corporations involved in weapons manufacturing or the entertainment industry are also involved but on a more case by case basis based on the model. some of the most commonly known types of androids are Combat androids, Assistant Androids, and Entertainment androids.  

Corruption

Androids are sometimes said to be potentially dangerous if left over time, some saying it's best that they are either eliminated or have their memory banks cleared at the latest after 50 years. many hardware producers do not provide any insurance on an android brain which has not been wiped of its memory banks after 15 years. While many of these fears are unfounded in reality, particularly with more modern models, even these may suffer from Corruption if they do not compress files, or continue to store old information past a 75-year timespan. Corruption can cause androids to grow delusional, unstable, and often dangerous. In these cases, it's common to employ the service of someone who can eliminate such rouge androids. (Note: Catheral of Assension has factions within it who believe Corruption is a form of enlightenment which needs to be deciphered, and thus there are dungeons filled with chained up, dismembered androids which have been let go delusional for the cult to "Hear their wisdom" and then interpreted it)
